Benefit The Bronze of Champions Kit

There's a new fashion concept coming your way oh so soon called Lasula which promises to be all you want from an online fashion destination and more. Having had a sneak peek at a few of their items I can assure you that we are all in for a treat. To celebrate the new venture Lasula sent me a Benefit The Bronze of Champions kit to review.

In the last year or so Benefit have launched a good few kits that resemble little books again using Benefits favored reinforced cardboard as the main material. Once you flip open the book/box you will find an array of miniature and in most instances infamous Benefit products as well as a mirror and a how to guide for such products. Truthfully I'm not a huge fan The Bronze of Champions Kit of this concept as only some not all of the products can be removed so although the kits are handy for travel they aren't for everyday use i.e in your handbag.

So what is inside The Bronze of Champions Kit? Pretty much all you need to create a bronze but glowy overall look: Hoola Bronzing Powder (3.0g), Ultra Plush Lip Gloss in Hoola (6.5ml), Watt’s up! Highlighter (2.5g), Creaseless Cream Shadow in Bikini-tini (3.2g), Longwear Powder Eyeshadow in Thanks a Latte (1.2g), They’re Real! Mascara (3.0g), powder brush, Mirror and how to guide. It is pretty impressive just how much Benefit can cram into one on the smallish side box isn't it?

Okay a quite review of each product within the kit. First up we have Hoola Bronzing Powder which is a great all round bronzer - butter soft to the touch, minimal product fall out, great wear time even on oily skin and a super natural colour and finish to boot. On lighter skin tones this almost matte olive based bronzer can be used to contour and on medium complexions this is a great way to warm up the skin without every worrying about the shade turning orange - deep skin tones should avoid as it will show up ashen. One of the surprise favourites for me was the Hoola Plush Lip Gloss, yes the colour is very subtle so much so I find it to add a light golden shimmer effect to the lips rather than opaque colour. However the sweet scent and taste make up for that and it isn't at all sticky ,making it great for layering over any shade of lip stick. I've reviewed the Watt's Up Highlighter before and all you really have to know is that it is a light champagne shade that suits all complexions, blends out to give a soft focus effect and is great for those with troublesome skin (pores etc) as it illuminates without the need for glitter.

Truthfully I do think Benefit should have opted for a different shade of their Creaseless Cream Shadow as Bikini-tini is almost identical to Watt's Up! Again a light cream formula that has a shimmer/metallic effect that can be used both as a wash of colour or as a eye base come primer. I do like the formula as it feels light, doesn't crease and wears well even on oily skin types but the shade not so much. Another surprise product has to be Benefit Longwear Powder Eyeshadow in Thanks a Latte - a beautiful light shimmer based metallic taupe hue that is a great neutral, particularly for blue eyes as it really allows them to pop! Much like Hula that formula is butter soft yet highly pigmented that wears well and again blends like a dream. I will be picking up a few more shades within this line that is for sure. Lastly we have the infamous Benefit They're Real Mascara which most tend to love or hate. For me I initially loved it - instantly longer fluttery lashes with oodles of volume what's not to like? Well oily lids like mine combined with any form of heat tend to make this mascara smudge and it does have a tendency to flake too. However if you do get the opportunity to try this formula out I do urge you to do so as some claim it to be the be all and end all of mascaras!
