Karmin G3 Salon Pro Hair Styling Iron

Let's face it when it comes to hair straighteners most covet a shiny new pair of GHD's over any other brand. For as long as I have been straightening my hair GHD's have been the brand leader and I can recall being so excited when I received a bright pink for a Christmas present when I was 16. So downing tools or brands in this case was never going to be easy but trust me there is plenty of other hair styling tools out there that are much better value and quality too.

The thing that always annoyed me about the brand leader is that their straighteners do not have an adjustable heat setting - sure some of us need the high 240°C (460°F) to create a smooth look, not to mention it is neigh impossible to find heat protectant for such high temperatures. The Karmin G3 Salon Pro Hair Styling Iron does look a little similar to the typical GHD Straightener Model but in my opinion the white metallic casing looks much more professional not to mention the Karmin G3's are much lighter in weight. Much to my joy along with a super long cord (3 meters) the G3 set have an adjustable heat setting from 120°C (250°F) to 240°C (460°F) so that you can pick the temperature best for your hair type, I advise going for the lowest heat you can possibly get away with as the less heat equates to less damage.

For convenience the G3's heat up within seconds (around 30 seconds at the very most) and they feature drop safe technology for those whoops moments as well as a 3 year guarantee. I forever worry that I have left my hair tools switched on at home, normally in a moment of panic when on the train so the fact that this model has an automatic switch off mode should they be left on for a hour. Much like most hair straighteners this model does of course straighten the hair effectively and quickly (my hair is long and thick and it took around 15 minutes to do it all) but they can also be used to create curls and waves. The only claim I'm not entirely on board with is that the brand state that the G3's will not damage the hair in any sense. I'm afraid that yes they will any heated product when used without the proper care will damage the hair eventually but as this pair feature Pure Tourmaline Ceramic plates along with Ion field technology (helps to seal in natural oils) the damage will be minimum.

GHD meet your match, you should be quaking in your boots!
