High Street Holiday Must Haves

I know how expensive going on holiday can be - the new clothes, sun lotions and don't get me started on spending money! With that in mind I have seven little staple products of mine that I recommend for a week or two in the sun and the great thing is that each product can also be used back on home soil!

High Street Holiday Must Haves

My first must have is Aloe Vera Gel - forget your typical after sun this green gel is your new best friend and no bathroom should be without a tube in my humble opinion. If you are unlucky (or simply foolish) and do get burnt while out and about then this is your secret weapon. Not only does Aloe Vera Gel cool and calm the skin instantly but it will take the sting out of any irritated skin and used a few times it will actually heal the skin. As it somewhat numbs the skin I slick a little on before and after plucking my brows, it also works wonderfully so with waxing.

The sun is never kind on my hair so to prevent any unnecessary damage I never travel without a bottle of Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner. This thick but budget friendly conditioner instantly engulfs the hair in moisture but will also repair and prevent frizz to boot. Many a hairdresser has told me that this is the conditioner to use when lounging beside the pool or at the beach - simply coat your entire head of hair with 3 Minute Miracle and rise off once back at the hotel/villa etc. As many will know I am a huge fan of V05 Shower Works (ignore the old packaging, I bought in bulk and have yet to finish my stash). This in shower oil goes on to wet pre-shampooed hair and rinses out, it doesn't just repair the hair but removes up to 75% more chlorine than shampooing alone making it a holiday staple.

As a general rule to keep your skin soft in intense heat you want to up your moisturising game and one quick way to do that for the body is to swap your typical shower gel for a shower oil - both Boots No.7 and Sanctuary do great high street versions which don't cost the earth and of course their is my favourite L'Occitanine Almond Shower Oil. By using a shower oil you not only cleanse your skin but traps in moisture instantly stopping dry skin in its tracks. If like myself you aren't a huge fan of body lotions or body butters then you may want to pick up Nivea's In Shower Lotion - basically you slap this on, rinse off and tah-dah you have moisturised your body.

In my opinion every travel adventure needs a good lip balm - hot or cold weather Carmex has never steered me wrong. A quick slick of this and the majority of my lip problems are instantly resolved, I also like that you can slick this over a lipstick for a hint of gloss as well as all the Carmex benefits we know and love!

My last recommendation is a facial mist spray and I really rate La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water Spray not only does it have a light mist function so you don't get drenched but as it is only water it is very gentle on the skin. No it doesn't promise the earth but trust me your face and limbs will thank you for this cooling mist while baking in the hot sunshine.
