MAC In Extra Dimension Skin Finish in Double Definition

As soon as MAC's In Extra Dimension collection launched I knew at least one Extra Dimension Skin Finish would be mine, in the end I went for the bronze duo that is Double Definition but that is not to say that the other two options : Shape the Future and Definitely Defined aren't beautiful I just went for the shade that I would get the most use from.

Much like yesterday's blush this shares the same embossed pattern which we have seen on various MAC Extra Dimension products- a wave like design in one segment coupled with a pattern of MAC's logo, it is really pretty and does set it aside from other powder products.
However unlike previous Extra Dimension products MAC's In Extra Dimension collection 2013 Skin Finishes feature two separate segments of colour, other than that the packaging is typical of MAC and the size/weight is the same as most MAC Skin Finishes.

I have read that the idea behind the new MAC In Extra Dimension Skin Finishes is that one segement is a blush or bronzer (the deeper shade) and the lighter shade is your highlight. I must stress that MAC have not come out and said that this is the intention but it does make perfect sense to me.
Within the Double Definition Skin Finish you have two equal segments : one which is a bright light gold tone which looks beautiful blended along the cheekbones and other areas you would typically highlight. The other portion is a deep almost copper gold which is a little too deep for my skin tone to be used as a highlight and is better suited as a bronzer in my case but for those with deeper complexions this may be a great highlight option.

MAC list the formula of their in Extra Dimension products as a powder to liquid experience but in my opinion it is more like a gel powder (much like the blush products Estee Lauder have been launching recently), it is firm to the touch but melts slightly with heat and is very easy to blend out and does not emphasise imperfections which is something I am forever grateful for. Something I have forgot to mention previously is that all of the MAC In Extra Dimension products do feel cooling on the skin.
As they are rather firm the colour pay off is not as intense as your typical MAC Skin Finish offering but on the plus side it does give a more refined finish with not a trace of glitter or shimmer particles in sight.
As the finish is metallic it adds a soft focus glow to the skin which is far more flattering and natural in appearance than other highlighting products which is particularly helpful if you have enlarged pores like myself. Without any glitter you have a grit free velvet soft product that applies easily without fall out which in turn allows you to apply with precision but the down side is that in my experience the Extra Dimension Skin Finishes are not a pigmented as some may be used too but they do layer up well without becoming heavy or ashen. In my experience MAC's Extra Dimension Skin Finishes can wear up to 10 hours when used with primer, without it is around the 8 hour mark but do keep in mind I have oily skin to contend with.

MAC In Extra Dimension Skin Finish in Double Definition £21.50/9g has sold out online via MAC but may still be available in store (MAC), it is also worth noting that Selfridges and Debenhams have yet to launch this collection.
