Most years MAC's main Summer collection is based around the beach or nautical but this years in my opinion is more about when the sun comes down at night and the glad rags get thrown on - MAC Temperature Rising! Being the complete blush fiend that I am I simply had to purchase MAC Ripe for Love Blush from the Temperature Rising collection but truth be told it is one of those rare collections where there is something for everyone so do check it out.
Don't you just love special edition packaging? I know I do!
MAC's Temperature Rising collective all comes beautifully presented within deep metallic bronze matte packaging that is rubberised and simply screams summer all the while being classy...I love it!
Yes it does share the same finish as NARS packaging but as it is not black it doesn't seem to be as prone to fingerprints and/or dirt, other than that it is your typical MAC blush offering in terms of packaging.
Unlike most MAC collections the UK was one of the first regions to receive the Temperature Rising range which is great in some senses but it does mean that there is limited swatches online so I will quickly admit that I did blind buy Ripe for Love. My initial hopes were that MAC Ripe for Love would be very much like the bright almost neon section that was present in a long gone limited edition blush by MAC - Ripe Peach. Sadly this has not turned out to be the case Ripe for Love which is listed as a "Midtone Peach". In my opinion Ripe for Peach is a more of a coral tone due to it's strong pink undertone, on some skin tones the pink will pull stronger than others but once blended out the end result is that of a coral. In my opinion MAC Ripe for Love is very similar to Illamasqua's S.O.P.H.I.E blush both in terms of colour and finish. There is plenty of pigment and generally speaking it is a fairly neutral blush so I'm going to throw caution to the wind and state that Ripe for Love is a universal shade.
MAC Ripe for Love blush is of course a satin formulation which in my opinion tend to be the driest blush offering from MAC and in my experience are most prone to clinging to dry areas of the skin.
Although dry I did not experience any problems with colour pay off, in-fact I'd go as far as stating that Ripe for Love is intensively pigmented and a shade I suggest approaching with a light hand.
As this is a satin formula Ripe for Love is not completely matte and on close inspection it does have tiny golden shimmer flecks which do translate on to the skin to give a light luminescent finish that is flattering rather than over the top and luckily said shimmer does not settle into the pores or fine lines but isn't the easiest to buff into the skin due to the dry formulation.
In my experience MAC satin formula blushes are one of the longest wearing formulations with each application wearing for around 8 hours o my oily skin when primed but of course everyone's experiences will be different.
MAC Ripe for Love Blush £19/6g via MAC, Selfridges, House of Fraser and Debenhams.
Ripe for Love has sold out online via MAC online but is available in store. Also the new MAC collections have yet to launch online via Selfridges and Debenhams.
Random Fact - The peach originated in China and has been cultivated at least since 1000 B.C.E.
