O.C.C Lip Tar in Psycho - Review

Wednesday, December 26, 2012

Yesterday I decided that a red lip was really the only route to go down make-up wise
seeing as it was Christmas and all!
I don't own many red lipsticks or lip products for that matter but I knew instantly that O.C.C's Lip Tar
in Psycho would be my best bet as not only is the shade perfection but the lasting power is out of this world!

I adore the simplicity of the O.C.C Lip Tar packaging - a small transparent squeeze tube of lip colour
that is light and easily transported not to mention being able to see the colour of the contents inside
is a god send when you only have a few minutes to spare or an over whelming make-up stash!
Unlike other squeeze style tubes this doesn't seem to ooze product but I would still be cautious
when dispensing the lip tar as a little goes a long, long, long way!

Now I'm not fully sure how many shades O.C.C produce of their now famous Lip Tar's (a lot it seems)
but I do know that Cult Cosmetics stock 9 shades which tends to be the the most spoken about
colour options (Hush is beautiful and a must have in my opinion).
The shade I have today is Psycho which is a listed as a true blood red but I would describe it as a meeting
of red and orange - very akin to MAC's So Chaud.
I always find red lip colours that lean slightly orange very flattering on mid to dark skin tones.
Very much a power red if you ask me.

If you are not familiar with O.C.C Lip Tars they are basically a superbly pigmented cross between a lipstick
and lip gloss, when first applied they have a highly glossy finish but dry down to a natural matte finish.
Please, please, please approach these little tubes with a less is more attitude as they do stain
and once set there is no removing these bad boys especially the deeper shades.
I can not recommend applying with a good lip brush enough to prevent a lip dilemma!
O.C.C Lip Tars provide full opaque coverage and will wear for up to five hours even with eating
and drinking as yesterday proved and even then it fads to an even beautiful red stain.
For long lasting lip colour you really can't do much better!

P.S  I have read a few times that this is the bright red/orange shade that the Kardashian's (mainly Kourtney) like to sport in the summer months...how true that is I can not say.

  8. They seem to be amazing :) I've tried Sleek pout paint and also Mac Lip Mix in Crimson (this is much more my red shade ).

Orange reds suit you so much, for me they are the cooler ones, darker or with that blue undertones :)

  14. Thanks so much for this write up & the photos. I've been looking at buying a lip tar for a while now but couldn't decide on a colour. I always wear orangey-reds (like MAC's Lady Danger) and none of the descriptions/pics on the OCC website were very useful ;)
