MAC Nail Lacquer in Girl Trouble - Review

MAC have just launched their first permanent Nail Lacquer collection
that features 30 shades split across three formulas - pearl, crème and cream (nope not a typo there is two versions of cream/crème apparently? I'm sure someone more in the know will elaborate).
Having never fully indulged in MAC nail polishes I thought now was the best time to trial a shade or two.

The first shade I want to share is Girl Trouble which MAC list as a super glitter pink
but truthfully it is more silver based lilac than it is pink but none the less a pretty shade
that you will struggle to dupe with ease on the high street and at £10 a bottle that is what I expect.
If I cough up more than £6 for a nail polish I want it to be special and a shade that not every
nail brand out there offers with ease!

Girl Trouble is a deemed a frost finish by MAC but I think most will agree when I say it is metallic,
yes there is glitter present in the polish but it is so fine and densely packed into the bottle that the overall
effect is a liquid metal finish rather than full out razzle dazzle glitter.
Sadly due to the fine glitter it is a b to the itch to remove but isn't that always the case with any glitter polish!

I've read such horror stories about MAC polish about the formula being shoddy and the brush
was terrible and I can happily say that this was not the case with Girl Trouble,
I will of course refrain from making any  general sweeping statements
until I have tried more than one shade haha!
Girl Trouble applied opaque in two coats and dried rather quickly too!
I have no issues with the brush, it's pretty standard and not all that dissimilar to the brushes found
inside most high street nail polishes.
No grumbles with the packaging either - it's simple, stylish and the rubberised cap makes application
a breeze as it is non-slip.

Have you tried any MAC polishes, what do you make of the formula?

Nail Polish Disclaimer - I no longer comment on the wear time as we all apply polishes differently (top/base coats etc) and as I change my polish almost daily sometimes several times a day due to swatching purposes I do not feel that I can fairly comment on wear time.

  1. This really reminds me of Topshops Eyes of steel polish! It kind of reminds me of the silvery lilac Barry M polish too but i havent actually tried that one, such a nice shade. I've only tried one MAC polish and it chipped like crazy on me x

    1. I've heard that so I'm a little fearful that this is one of the better formulated polishes in the range haha! I guess only time will tell! Thank you for the dupe suggestion, I really need to get more familiar with Topshop make-up I always forget it exists haha :)

I only go to MAC for the lipsticks, the rest I can (usually) go without! :)

  3. i love the colour of this nail polish :) I've never tried MAC nail polishes before but i think i may have to pick one up soon seeing that they have so many colours available~ I think there is a similar metallic lilac colour from Essie but im not too sure on what the name of it is. MAC nail polishes doesn't sound too bad and i like the fact that it dries relatively quickly. Thank you for sharing your thought and also the swatches xoxo

I have several MAC nail polishes. I don't like the application of their mini's [from the christmas collection]
but I do love the full sized one that I got !
