I have went from buying magazines weekly/fortnightly to seldom purchasing them,
only really picking up a few if I'm travelling some distance or the freebie is really good!
It is due to the influx of blog reading I do - daily updates and real people are always a winning combination.
Well the month of March was a good ol' month in the world of free magazine gifts
with Glamour Magazine (£2.00) giving away the choice of four Percy and Reed hair products.
I have had a browse on the Percy and Reed website and to be frank I am a little shocked at the price point
considering the packaging, now I am aware looks aren't everything but the aesthetics don't scream £20+
hair products rather they look like something you would find stocked in a drug store rather than Selfridges!
As the product I have is only a sample size and the full size comes in a scoop out style tub
there isn't much else I can really add.
"Need a rescue remedy? This deep, indulgent treatment helps restores your hair’s vitality
and makes it soft and more manageable.
How? Well, we’ve enlisted marshmallow to lend a hand nourishing and strengthening stressed tresses
and coconut oil for deep conditioning and moisturising. Our heroes."
The scent is rather lovely - clean not sickly and not a hint of marshmallow or coconut (sadly).
For a hair mask the texture is a little thin but not so much that it makes it a chore to apply,
in-fact the consistency is what makes for an easy application as you don't really have to do much
for an even application as it absorbs with ease into the hair.
As the bottle suggested I applied this from roots to tips then wrapped my hair in a towel and left for minutes
before rising out and drying as I normally would.
I have used this for a week now and I have to say I am not blown away,
my hair feels little different from what it does when I use a bog standard conditioner.
If I had bought the full size product at £20.00 I would have been rather cheesed off in all honesty
as it really does not feel like a luxury hydrating mask but rather a typical hair conditioner.
Did you pick up Glamour for one of the freebies?
If so which one and what are your thoughts on the Percy and Reed products?

I got this one to and it made my hair feel so greasy! I didnt like it all but didnt mind as it was free with the magazine
ReplyDeleteTell ya what it works well on... Hair extension, I clip mine and used this on them as I dont like using the expensive stuff on them. They actully came out really nice and soft and the ends looked much better :o)
Glad you found a use for it :) I will try it that way :)
DeleteI picked this up too and absolutely love it! I leave it on my hair for a lot longer though, as in around an hour or so, so maybe that's worth a try.
ReplyDeletexx
Ah yes I will try it that way :)
DeleteI felt exactly the same, didnt do anything special for my hair...I will stick to my Sephora hair mask which is amazing!
ReplyDeleteOhh what sephora one is that?
DeleteI have this too and would absolutely not purchase it full price. I've had much better results from cheapie hair masks! x x
ReplyDeleteThat is what I felt too, glad i'm not the only one :)
DeleteI purchased 3 of them so have the Shampoo, Conditioner and mask. I like them!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.allthingsbeautymake-upandshopping.blogspot.com
Glad you had a better result :)
DeleteI have the shampoo, and the scent is heavenly, but the results? I really can't tell I am using a high-end product to be honest - it doesn't do as good a job as my usual shampoo, but the fragrance...I just love it!
ReplyDeleteI agree the scent is just lovely but like you said the product is a bit meh!
DeleteI got the finishing product which is quite nice but not worth the high price!
ReplyDeletex
I wish I picked the finishing product up but I'm quite minimal with my hair and do prefer masks...oh well!
DeleteI got the same one as you as I read another blogger say they weren't too impressed with the finishing polish one. I haven't tried this yet, but I won't be putting it up to my roots incase it makes my hair greasy x
ReplyDeleteYeah don't put it up to your roots, I didn't do that either haha :)
DeleteI have the shampoo, I reviewed it on my blog a few days ago, and it is quite nice. Not something I'd spend £20 on but decent as freebies go.

I think that is the best way to see it but a few have actually said the shampoo is the best out of the 4 :)
DeleteMy favourite thing from Percy and Reed is the volumising shampoo - its absolutely amazing!
ReplyDeleteSo many have sang the shampoos praises I wish I picked that up instead!
DeleteI received this and I'm not fussed on it at all! Didn't seem to make any difference to my hair and I much prefer my herbal essences mask! X
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly how I feel :)
DeleteI have to agree, given the price it retails for (and I agree the packaging does not scream £20) you would expect this to perform wonders. Don't get me wrong i am sure for some people this has made an improvement but from someone that uses masks on a regular basis, a majority being drugstore ones this one does not come on par with them to be honest and like you say is more like a daily conditioner. I would be interested in the conditioner of this too and making a compassion perhaps?
ReplyDeleteYes! Summed up exactly how I feel but I'm trying not to complain too much as it was free haha! If I can see the conditioner I will pick it up and let you know :)
DeleteHm really? I got all 4 and this is the only one I liked (so much so I went and got 2 more!). My hair is extremely damaged and this made it feel like the years of damage had vanished. Like Zoe said though, I leave it on for over an hour and also get the hair dryer on it. For the price I don't know if I'd buy it but these should last me a while. :)
ReplyDeleteHaha wow :) glad you liked it and the best way to buy it defo was with the magazines! I may try it with heat and longer period of time but not a re-purchase for me at all :)
DeleteI was only interested in getting a Clinique 7 day scrub cream in Cosmo but I couldn't find one anywhere. Lots of the mascaras and little lip glosses available, no scrub. I saw that hair product but wasn't interested enough to buy it. Your review makes me glad I didn't bother as well.
ReplyDeleteAli x
Aww that truly sucks but like you all I saw clinique wise was the mascaras and lipglosses...most odd!
DeleteI got this freebie to but as a shampoo and I found it really worked it made my hair feel so bouncy and had a nice smell to each which even had my boyfriend commenting on how much he liked the smell. However I do need a good hair mask and was thinking about this would you recommend this or have you tried others that would be better. Xx
ReplyDeleteThe praise for the shampoo in the comments is un-real so many of you love it :) kicking myself now haha! In all honesty no I don't recommend it at all, for a high st treat you can't go wrong with John Frieda's Total repair deep conditioner it is amazing :)
DeleteI have been looking at the John Frieda Total Repair collection. I have brought the root lift but haven't used this yet as currently working my way through my other bottle of product for volume but this comes out quick sticky so really hope the root repair isn't like this one.
DeleteDo you know if you can get the John Frieda Total repair as a shampoo?

I've picked up Cosmopolitan this month for the clinique mascara which i really like :) I've been thinking of picking up the hair mask as i have long thick have and the ends are always that tiny bit dry xx
ReplyDeletehttp://theredoneblog.blogspot.co.uk/
Yes that is a great everyday mascara isn't it :) if you think it is worth a go I say go for it :)
DeleteI got the finishing polish and the shampoo and I haven't tried the shampoo yet but I am very happy with the finishing polish! :)
ReplyDeletewell the shampoo seems to be everyone's fav so I say your in for a treat :)
DeleteGot myself 3 copies of Glamour to pick up the conditioner, this hydrating mask and the finishing polish. I haven't tried this yet so I can't make a comment about it but I have used the conditioner 5 times already and I must say it works really well. Makes my hair feel soft. Not mind blowing softness but it did leave my hair noticeably softer so I would recommed it.
ReplyDeleteLove the packaging though. The drawing of the girls on the bottle is beautiful. :D
Once you have tried it let me know what you think :) glad the conditioner works for you :)
DeleteYes the illustrations are lovely :)
I got the conditioner and I do really like it. The smell is a bit odd, but not unpleasant and my hair does feel very smooth after.

I quite like the scent :) I'm glad the normal conditioner works better than this one did :)
DeleteI've got this too but haven't tried it yet. Should this be applied to wet or dry hair? xxx
