I for one am really enjoying the sudden influx of gel liners on the high street,
gel liners have always been my weapon of choice as far as eye liners are concerned
and it wasn't too long ago that finding a decent one on the high street was nigh impossible.
The L'Oreal Super Liner Gel comes in a small glass pot (yay for it not being frosted glass)
with a gold lid and a complementary eye liner brush.
The jar is well constructed and sturdy but obviously not all that travel friendly,
the brush is actually really well made given that it comes free with the liner.
I found it to be soft yet dense and is easy to use - thick and fine lines.
When it comes to black liners I will only use true black versions,
I despise when a product claims to be very black yet when applied it is blue/grey!
Luckily the L'Oreal Super Liner Gel in Pure Black is very black indeed
and has great pigmentation even when used to draw fine lines.
Pure Black when dry does have a slight glossy finish so this will not be one for matte lovers.
The formula of L'Oreal Super Liner Gel is really soft and extremely easy to use,
even for those who are new to the world of gel liners.
It applies evenly without pulling or tugging at the eye lids and when dry it does not flake or crumble.
I have used it on my upper and lower lash line and my water line without any problems
and each time the shade gleaned deep black and my sensitive eyes approved too,
it is also safe for contact lens wearers too!
When you initially apply this you do have to allow it to dry down and set - around a minute or less
but once set it does not smudge or flake even in the rain...yep it rained when I tested this.
L'Oreal do claim that this will last 24 hours and I have to disagree it lasted around 12 hours on my lids
which are oily before beginning to fade which I still think is fairly impressive.

I hope it is too :) the black is so black which I find rare!
DeleteI loved the Maybelline one but it dried out really quickly so I'm back to MAC Fluidline, but this looks like a good and cheaper substitute! I only use true black liners too.
ReplyDeleteI really hated the Maybelline one and felt wrong for doing so as everyone else loved it haha ! This is great for the price and yes if it doesn't look true black I really don't see the point in using it!
DeleteI have the Maybelline one but i found it really hard to use and the brush got all clogged up after a while, might have to try this!

DeleteHey, you need to clean the brush using the makeup remover after every use.. It works well :)
DeleteLooks a really great liner, and the pigmentation looks really good too!

I must try this, I love a good gel liner but I go through them like I wouldn't know so if I could find one that was cheaper than MAC or Bobbi Brown I would be over the moon and you can't go wrong with a free brush! x
ReplyDeleteI would say it is on par with both :)
DeleteBeen on the look out for a gel eyeliner, might have to give this a go! :) x

DeleteYay for a review on this! I was umming and aahing over this in superdrug for so long that the lady working there started huffing and puffing! (dont know what her problem was!) But I've been looking for a gel liner to replace my elf studio line one which is dying a slow painful death! Thanks for the review, I trust your better judgement and will probably be picking this up very soon :D

Shame on her for not asking if she could help rather than being rude! I'm the weirdo in boots/superdrug helping people even though I don't work there hahaha oops! It is a great liner and I really do love it :)
DeleteThis looks good but I can't be tempted away from my fluidline! I've tried the Sleek and Maybelline gel liners and have been disappointed but I like that they come with a brush, very handy. Have you tried the Inglot one? It's amazing xx
ReplyDeleteomg it's so pretty! i loooooooooooooooooooooooooove the glossy finish! want want want
ReplyDelete; w ; I need to replace my dried up gel liner, sigh. Not even half the pot used. I've been toying with the idea of a glossy finish so I might give this a shot!
ReplyDeleteIf you had to choose between Bobbi Brown Gel Liner and this one, which would you go for?
ReplyDeleteThanks
p.s. Am still massively loving this blog, it's a beauty bible! x
