Like most curiosity gets the better of me some days.
I seldom venture into Boots with the intention of buying anything from their
Natural Collection cosmetic line, something about the packaging just screams cheap.
However I am attempting to live by the mantra "Nothing ventured, nothing gained"
so I picked up one of their lipsticks hoping I would be pleasantly surprised
I wasn't!
The packaging feels and looks cheap.
I could over look this matter should it have protected the lipstick itself
but it didn't after swatching this shade, I twisted up the lipstick bullet to find that it
removed itself from the base and had stuck to one side of the inner casing.
Okay this is not totally unusual after a few uses and general wear an tear
but for a brand new lipstick this is not acceptable at all.
Shade Rose Petal is a light nude peachy pink shade
which on paper has me written all over it, shame that once applied it looks stark
and gives me lips that the walking dead would be proud of!
Rose Petal is neutral in tone and has a slight yellow undertone.
I wouldn't really recommend this shade for medium to dark skin tones
as it may give you concealer effect lips, perhaps blotted on a paler complexion would work?
The lipstick itself is basically unscented and supposedly moisturising.
I failed to find that effect, same applies for the shine element.
When you first apply the lipstick you will notice that it feels drying on the lips
and yes it does have a gloss like finish initially but once it has settled it veers towards matte.
This wouldn't bother me had it been advertised as a matte finish but I have to take it for face value.
The pigmentation is average and does require a few coats to gain full opaqueness
and it does apply slightly patches particularly towards the corners of the mouth.
In terms of wear you would be lucky to get anything over the hour mark.
Product Summary
Round Up - An under achieving nude pink lipstick that does not deliver what it promises.
Best For - Perhaps blotted on pale skin tones or fans of really pale and stark shades.
Pigmentation - (5/10) Middle of the road but application is not fun at all.
Availability - Boots Stores only £1.99
Love this!

ReplyDeleteaww thank you :) I just like to make the posts a little more interesting than here is the lipstick enjoy haha :) x
Deleteshame, the colour is lovely! x
ReplyDeletewww.velvetbows.me
You win some you loose some :)
DeleteBit of a shame about the lipstick considering the price is amazing and the colour on the lipstick itself looks so lovely! And can't believe the lipstick wasn't even attached to the base! xx
ReplyDeleteHaha I know I was a little shocked to find it rattling around in the tube, oh well next time I will check in-store :)
DeleteSounds a bad experience but don't give up on the Natural Collection lippies. I've got one in Raspberry that is amaaaaaaaazing. Not very moisturising but it's so pigmented and lasts forages on my lips.
ReplyDeleteI think I own this one too and can confirm corpse lips suit nobody.
yes corpse lips belong on a corpse only haha :)
DeleteI won't write the brand off at all I will try a few more items before throwing in the towel :)
i've got this lippie, and as i've got really pale skin, i thought yay! a peachy colour which isn't too dark! but no:/ on pale skin (mine anyway), it was just way too orange for normal use. Not even coral orange, just a really unattractive peach-orange-y-yellow glob. Quite disappoiting, but hey ho! £1.99- pay for what you get i guess!
ReplyDeletedaisychainsetscatterbrains.blogspot.com
ah that sucks I though paler skins might have suited this but a yellow orange shade is not hot at all haha :) yeah for £1.99 we can't grumble too much :)
Delete"gives me lips that the walking dead would be proud of!" hehe made me chuckle! shame about the lippie! Have you tried the natural collection blushes!? I really like them, especially in pink cloud and peach melba, deff worth a swatch! xx
ReplyDeletehaha i'm glad you got a giggle :) funny you have said that as I actually have both those blushes in the to review stash so I shall share what I think on those super soon :)
Deletei agree lovely detail for the photos! shame u dont rate this as your lips look angelina worthy..love your blog :) xxx
ReplyDeleteaww thank you that is so kind so glad you are enjoying my blog :) as for the angie lips I wish haha!
DeleteWhat a shame =(
ReplyDeleteah well for £1.99 it's not too much of a loss :)
DeleteI bought a NC lipstick the other day ('sweet pea') and I wiped it off as soon as I applied it really - I think it would be best layered over a better lipstick to be honest. Xo
ReplyDeleteDid curiosity get to you too? I may try layering it thanks for the tip :)
DeleteI tried out one of the natural collection lipsticks and the same thing happened! which is such a shame as i think there really good for the price, and i love the shades! I thought i was just unlucky when i discovered mine had removed itself from the base! lol xx
ReplyDeletewww.pinksugarnotes.blogspot.com
oh lord you are the third person in this stream of comments to have said yours has removed itself from the base, they really must sort that out! Oh well for £1.99 I guess it is a case of you get what you pay for haha!
Deletesuch a shame you didnt get along with this! im pretty sure i have this colour (shameful i cant even remember what lipsticks i own!) i found it all right, but its not the best out there!
ReplyDeletei bought a white eyeliner from them today, and it managed to stay on really well! i guess like with most brands, some products are great and others are really pants!
haha you are in good company I have more lipsticks than sense! Oh that's good news I also bought a few blushes from the range so I'm hoping they fair better :)
DeleteI actually think the shade looks really nice on you! I guess you get what you paid for though, I tried their black liquid eyeliner and it's not the best quality it's now a 'back up' in my make up bag!
ReplyDeletewww.helloterrilowe.blogspot.com
thanks lovely :) but in reality when you see it with the rest of my face it is a case of yikes! haha :) if you are ever looking for a cheap but decent liquid liner I do recommend collection 2000 fast stroke it is really balck and actually stays put :)
DeleteMaybe I'm a bit weird but I quite like their packaging hahaha ! I think the colour could maybe suit my very pale skin in winter ! xx
ReplyDeleteclayandbeauty.blogspot.com
haha not at all each to their own :) it might do check it out in store but the formula is on the drying side :(
DeleteWow what a bummer! At least you tried it and now you know though however!
ReplyDeleteSeems disappointing. Especially given the fact that it's called moisture shine and it's a matte, drying product.
ReplyDeleteI love the rose petals! Very cute :)

This kind of shade would probably make anyone look as a dead corpose...
ReplyDeleteThis blog is a great source of information which is very useful for me. Thank you.

Wow this shade is really terrible! I have one of these in 'Raspberry' and I really love it; one of the only pink shades that suits me! I had the same experience with it snapping from the base though, but I'll definitely be buying a new one as I love the colour so much x

It's a shame about this product, but I guess at that price you can't expect too much!

Oh thats a shame! I have one of these lipsticks in 'Crimson' which is a reddish shade and quite like it!
ReplyDeletewww.absolutleybeautiful.blogspot.com
xoxo
I've got one of these lipsticks in 'Pink Mallow' and really like it - I actually find it nice and moisturising and the pigmentation is quite good. Not got great staying power but hey ho you get what you pay for I guess. Shame about your experience but for a couple of quid might be worth trying another!
ReplyDeleteShame it's drying! The actual shade is quite pretty. :)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds terrible! Definitely won't be trying this out! xx
ReplyDeleteI've got the 'Rose Bud' lippy and it's one of my favourites, especially layered with the lipgloss in 'Caramel Shortcake' agree the packaging is bad though
