Natural Collection Moisture Shine Lipstick Rose Petal

Like most curiosity gets the better of me some days.
I seldom venture into Boots with the intention of buying anything from their
Natural Collection cosmetic line, something about the packaging just screams cheap.
However I am attempting to live by the mantra "Nothing ventured, nothing gained"
so I picked up one of their lipsticks hoping I would be pleasantly surprised

I wasn't!
The packaging feels and looks cheap.
I could over look this matter should it have protected the lipstick itself
but it didn't after swatching this shade, I twisted up the lipstick bullet to find that it
removed itself from the base and had stuck to one side of the inner casing.
Okay this is not totally unusual after a few uses and general wear an tear
but for a brand new lipstick this is not acceptable at all.

Shade Rose Petal is a light nude peachy pink shade
which on paper has me written all over it, shame that once applied it looks stark
and gives me lips that the walking dead would be proud of!
Rose Petal is neutral in tone and has a slight yellow undertone.
I wouldn't really recommend this shade for medium to dark skin tones
as it may give you concealer effect lips, perhaps blotted on a paler complexion would work?

The lipstick itself is basically unscented and supposedly moisturising.
I failed to find that effect, same applies for the shine element.
When you first apply the lipstick you will notice that it feels drying on the lips
and yes it does have a gloss like finish initially but once it has settled it veers towards matte.
This wouldn't bother me had it been advertised as a matte finish but I have to take it for face value.
The pigmentation is average and does require a few coats to gain full opaqueness
and it does apply slightly patches particularly towards the corners of the mouth.
In terms of wear you would be lucky to get anything over the hour mark.
