Perhaps it is because I purchase them, wash them and put said brushes straight to use
without any second thoughts, that and brushes are pretty mundane aren't they?
The reason for this post is due to the queries on how I apply my paint pots and other bases
so that they only deliver a sheer wash of colour and act as a setting medium
and the answer is the Mac 224 brush and my finger tips.f the s
I blot on the chosen cream base with my finger tips
and buff until I have my desired effect with the Mac 224 brush.

Many sing the praises of the ever famous 217 brush which I do own a few of
and admittedly I do like but not quite as much as I like the 224 brush.
Unlike the 217 brush the 224 is tapered and has synthetic bristles,
this allows me to easily apply cream products to the lid and buff them away to next to nothing
with very little ease or effort, it also works equally well with powder formulas.
As it is tapered I find it is easier to control and distribute the product,
I also enjoy how soft the bristles are on my delicate eye area.
Okay the down side a Mac 224 brush will set you back a whooping £22 - link
but as with the majority of Mac brushes if you treat it lovingly
it will last you forever and a day.
This is one of my favourite concealer brushes :) xx
ReplyDeleteah I don't wear concealer often but I can why you'd use it for that it's just so soft and great at blending :)
DeleteTheres too many numbers on the mac brushes i get confused haha the 217 is my brush of choice for blending but its good to know what you use for paintpots... I just use my fingers ha x
ReplyDeletehaha you are not alone, I get the numbers confused too haha! I use my fingers too but some shades are a little stark on my skin so I use this to buff them in :)
DeleteLove this! More brush reviews please! Lx
ReplyDeleteI shall adhere to that :)
DeleteI adore the 224! I love how everybody uses it differently, for example I have never actually used it to apply product - I use it as my blending brush! I must try and be more versatile with my brushes:D x

ReplyDeletethey are a great investment but sigma brushes are also favourites of mine :)
Deletewhich mac brush do you find best for eyeshadows? powder based ones? I'm struggling to pick x

I love my 224 for blending colour into the socket/crease and softening lines when I do a smokey eye etc. Never used it for my paint pots though, usually rely on my fingers but will definitely give it a try with the brush! x
ReplyDeleteSo many brushes! I'm really confused by all the different blending brushes. I'm not especially skilled at eye makeup but I really want to develop my skills. It's good to read as many brush reviews as possible then, I think. :3 so thank you!
ReplyDeleteThis is one of my fave brushes of all time. I use it all the time when I apply my makeup.
ReplyDeleteThis blog is a great source of information which is very useful for me. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteBEST MAKEUP IDEAS FOR LIP MAKEUP.
How do you take care of your make up brushes? A post on that would be really interesting and useful - I'm just starting get into using good quality brushes but am never sure how best to clean them to keep them in good condition!
ReplyDeleteThanks, for another great post! I'm sitting here on the 29th of Jan going through all of your posts incase I missed one lol!
ReplyDeleteI really like this brush, and as I'm abit of a brush hoarder it can get a little expensive, I now buy most of my brushes from CrownBrushes.co.uk..they supply most of the brushes to these companies..I was suprised at how similar their fluffy brushes were to MAC brushes :)
