I get asked all the time about what is the easiest way to spot if a product
is cool or warm in tone and also how can you spot underlying tones
such as a blue tone in a red lipstick or a grey leaning in a foundation.
Well the easiest way I have found to do it is to grab a bunch of various shades,
i.e if it is a blush that you want to decide if it is hot or cold
then get a few (3-4) various blush shades and the blush you are trying to determine.
Place the blush in the middle with the other blushes circling it
and then hopefully you notice that tones you didn't quite see before pop?
Example
Benefit Dallas Blush
Notice how in pan form Dallas looks almost warm and plummy in tone.
Yet when I place it with true warm and cool shades you can see that it is most definitely cool
in tone and has slight grey dusky undertones.
After a while you'll instantly see undertones and not require any assistance from other products
but if you struggle at the moment, I hope this was of some help.
Try it and see if it works!
Yeap that´s the way I do it too! it´s much easier when you have other to compare to, so great tip! thanks for sharing!
