Clarins Ever Matte Foundation SPF 15 is the item I was most excited from Clarins latest releases.
Is it really odd that foundation excites me? Because it does, it really does haha!
This is a light weight foundation which contains a cocktail of minerals and plant extracts
that deliver all day protection against unwanted shine making it the perfect formula for oily
and combination skin types.
The packaging is sleek and simple with a slight ring of Chanel about it,
the squeeze type bottle is user friendly and as the bottle is soft plastic you need not fret
about it smashing while in transit or snuggled up at the bottom of your handbag.
I guess the only down side is that you can not fully control how much comes out the spout
but unless it is a jar type product you never really can so I don't see that as a problem.
Clarins Ever Matte Foundation is thick and creamy but not so much so that it smothers the skin,
when applied to the skin it feels light and allows the skin to breathe.
The coverage is medium but completely buildable so should you need extra coverage in a particular area
you can do so without worrying that the foundation will cake.
I have slight acne scarring and enlarged pores and this formula covered such faults with ease
without being too full coverage which my skin does not always appreciate.
As this does have an SPF 15 you will encounter a little flash back when using flash photography
but personally I will not knowingly purchase a foundation that does not have an SPF
as I deem it necessary to protect the skin against environmental damage.
Shade 109 Wheat is a little too light for my skin tone but not by much,
I would guess that the next shade up would be the ideal colour match.
Wheat is in the medium skin tone range and would suit those who have a light olive undertone,
on my golden toned skin it does look a little ashy but my skin tone does this to any green toned product.
I would estimate shade 109 to be around the MAC NC30 mark perhaps a little darker.
The foundation delivers a matte finish but not one that looks less than natural and overdone,
I found it to work with my natural skin texture yet deliver a matte and shine free finish.
It did not look cakey but delivered a lovely radiant yet matte effect and was extremely comfortable to wear.
As I have oily skin I found this formula perfect, it lasted all day with ease and did not succumb to the oil.
I really enjoyed having a matte complexion that did not require powder touch up's throughout the day.
Once this releases next month I shall be picking up a shade better to my skin tone
as I thoroughly enjoyed testing this product!
Clarins Ever Matte Foundation will launch in February and will cost £24 for 30ml.
The above product/s were sent for consideration of review.
I was not compensated in any shape or form.
All opinions expressed are my own and 100% honest as always!
Matte but radiant sounds like a dream come true
ReplyDeleteIt kinda is :)
DeleteIt certainly looks creamy. I hope you find a shade that works for you! That's always my biggest problem.
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely consistency :) yes i'm sure the next shade up will be perfection :)
DeleteI really like the look of this + the price tag isn't too scary either.
ReplyDeleteI love how you say it's light too as some matte foundations are too heavy for me.

Deletelooks like a great foundation, i love matte foundations.
ReplyDeleteHow do you find the time to blog so often? Its amazing! :-)
thank you :) I schedule my posts so I can post regularly :)
DeleteLovely review, I've been testing a few high end foundations now in search of my holy grail. How do you think it would fare well for those with combination/dry skin? I don't usually like too matte finishes as I have dry spots on my cheeks, but I do like slightly matte as my nose and chin gets oily and dewy foundations slip off there. I like the sound of this foundation because you said it left your skin radiant yet matte! :) xx

thank you :)
DeleteI think it would be fine as it is not heavy at all, some foundations aimed at oily skins really are too thick and just yuck! I don't see this being a problem for the dry areas as it is really moisturising so I think it could work for you as well :)
If in doubt hit your local counter and have a good old nosey :)
Thank you for answering :). I'll definitely go to my local counter and try this. It's encouraging to know that it's moisturising too :) x
DeleteYou are most welcome :) it's a lovely formula i'm close to declaring it my new HG product haha :)

ReplyDeleteyou are most welcome :) I hope you enjoy it :)
DeleteVery thorough, but would be very helpful if you could include pictures where you actually test the product on your face and show us the before and after. Very troublesome I know, but as I said would make all the difference, at least for me.
ReplyDeleteNo I know what you mean, i'm just not the most confident of people and don't really like putting my face out there. I would really like to do more face posts and will most certainly try :) thanks for your input and honest opinion!
Deletegreat post! put u up for an award (: http://bowsbootsandburch.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteLove ur review.. i am looking for a new foundation to replace my love for chanel matte lumiere - i know they brought out a new one but with a hefty price tag.. was going to try ES double wear but this one sounds right up my street.. if u dont mind me asking which foundation out of this clarins one and ES double wear do u prefer?
ReplyDeleteThanks xx
Hi Lynsey, I prefer this for day wear as it is matte but light and is medium coverage but DW for nights out etc just as it doesn't budge at all. Generally speaking this over DW :)
Deletejust got a sample of this in Elle, loved it so much, definitely going to buy the whole thing! :) xo
ReplyDeleteclip in hair extensions is the most convenient way to add hair extension, you can put on or remove it at any time.

Hi.
ReplyDeleteDoes this wash off with soap & water? Or do you need make-up remover?
Thanks!
