China Glaze Eye Candy Collection

I feel I am a little late in posting this collective but as they only arrived on Christmas Eve there isn't much I can do about that. Admittedly the glitter would be better suited for the run up to Christmas
but with New Year just around the corner I thought it is now or never! Is it just me but does it get on people's nerves when things aren't quite perfect? Hello odd black cap in a sea of silver!Oh sorry all the swatches are on false nails my own nails have began to peel and flake, I blame all the constant removing of nail polish so to give them a break I have used false ones.

A quick note on China Glaze polishes in general is that I personally find them to be one of the best formulas readily available particularly for their price point (RRP £6.49). Generally speaking the apply well, with a high level of opaqueness (unless jelly formula) and wear well with some shades lasting a full seven days with only tip damage.

Blond Bombshell
I'm not the biggest fan of gold or silver nail polishes but I really like this gold shade. There is something very luxe about the tone of this yellow gold it reminds me of hidden treasure! Blond Bombshell applies evenly and is one of the more opaque shades in the collection but it did still require two fairly thick coats to achieve the finish shown above. I particularly like the mix of large and small gold glitter chunks it gives the polish a certain complexity.

Love Marilyn
My least favourite of the six shades.I don't feel the Love Marilyn shade name is apt and see it more as a Christmas shade? China Glaze Love Marilyn is a red semi sheer base with a mix of red and silver chunky glitter. I required three coats to gain full coverage but with all those coats comes a long drying time so perhaps it is one of those shades that is best layered over another shade for best results. Once dry this is extremely rough to the touch once dry too!

Material Girl
If Barbie was a real live person she would most definitely coat her talons with this shade.
Material girl is a silvered light pink shade scattered with lots of chunky pink glitter.
Once dry it does sort of look like you have tiny pink gem stones attached to your nails.
This is one of the more opaque shades in the collection and only required two coats.

Marry a Millionaire
On paper a green and purple glitter mixture sounds odd but it works oh so well without a hint of Barney the Dinosaur in sight! Once applied the two tones merge together and just form a glitter party (oh so technical I am).Yet again you do have to build this shade up for it reach it's full potential (3 coats)but it is so worth it with this particular shade. Does it remind anyone else of Models Own Disco Mix though?

Some Like it Haute
This shade had all the promise in the world. It is a blacked blue, navy if you will with various sizes of glitter some of which is holographic. I imagined that once dry it would look like a night sky on my fingertips but it applies fairly poorly and required a full four coats to achieve full coverage which is not a joy in all honesty but in some ways worth it for the final results. If you like the idea of cosmic nails but are not a fan of nail art I suggest purchasing this then layering it over a deep shade such as navy for similar yet minimal effort results.

Lorelei's Tiara
This is the most subtle shade in the collection but the easiest to apply.
I found this shade to only require one coat but I did apply a second for luck (does anyone else do that?).
Lorelei's Tiara is a silver micro fine glitter base with slightly larger chunks of blue glitter
again it is one of those shades that perhaps would have been better suited for Christmas.

Collection Round Up
A pretty enough collection with lots of options for glitter lovers. The collective is a little hit and miss which is fairly odd for China Glaze. My stand out shades have to be Material Girl and Marry a Millionaire. I bought these from eBay (an international seller from the U.S) but they arrived quickly, less than 10 days all in and the seller combined p&p. The polishes cost me £2.55 each .

Did you pick up anything from the Eye Candy Collection?
I'm really looking forward to the Hunger Games collection by China Glaze.
