There’s certain scents we all secretly hope will one day become a ready-to-wear fragrances Cadbury’s Mini Eggs, Dove soap and sunscreen, every now and then our wishes are granted. For all of those who perhaps more than enjoy the vibrant notes of Sol de Janerio Bum Bum Cream, then your luck is in as Sol de Janerio, Sol Cheirosa '62 Eau De Parfum has arrived.
There’s very few fragrances that capture the essence of Summer and even fewer that last the test of time. Truly the only two that spring to mind - and do feel to correct me - is Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess and DKNY Be Delicious so to have a new contender in Sol Cheirosa '62 Eau De Parfum is both welcomed and refreshing. The latter being the perfect descriptor for Sol de Janerio, Sol Cheirosa '62 Eau De Parfum; yes it is an uplifting scent and perfect for warmer weather and yet it manages to be an industry disruption at the same time, as there is nothing around remotely similar.
A quick look at the bottle? Edgy yet sophisticated with a glass flanker that beautifully displays the amber-tinged, perfume and playfully capped with a disco-ball come sun lid to brighten up even the dullest days with a little Brazilian sun-soaked flavour. Again it is different and frankly it has Sol de Janerio's essence all over it; fun yet modern, youthful yet all encompassing, different to the norm and weirdly familiar in a nostalgic sense. You can't help but fall for this brand and hard.
If you are familiar with the phenomenon that is Sol de Janerio Bum Bum Cream, you’ll know exactly what Sol de Janerio, Sol Cheirosa '62 Eau De Parfum smells like and undoubtedly will already have a bottle winging its way to you at some point. If not, this is something extraordinary in that it encapsulates the heat and general feeling of the Summer without relying on fruity, aquatic nor sun-lotion, type notes. Rather, it is creamy with a strong vanilla and pistachio; it’s sweet, sophisticated, dedicate and very more-ish. I won't for one minute allude that Sol Cheirosa '62 Eau De Parfum and Tom Ford Soleil Blanc are identical but they do share the same nutty note just blended differently, I can imagine if you the Tom Ford concoction that this will be a scent you'll equally enjoy.

Did you know that in Brazil, the term 'cheirosa' is apparently used to describe someone who smells fantastic and isn't actually a note or type of flower - I assumed it was the latter. Sol de Janeiro took such term and moulded an entire fragrance around it; which makes complete sense as other than saying that Sol de Janerio, Sol Cheirosa '62 Eau De Parfum smells incredible, I'd be hard pushed to actually narrow it down into a type of fragrance e.g floral, oriental etc. Sol Cheirosa '62 Eau De Parfum is a surprising blend of food-like notes such as caramel, pistachio and vanilla alongside a floral note of jasmine. At the top, almond notes balance out the scent, while sandalwood lingers at the base, allowing you to pretend you are a supermodel with each and every wear...no just me?
What initially - in my mind of course - had the potential to be a rather gimmicky product has completely transformed into not just a beauty staple for many, but a very tasteful addition to an already luxurious range.
