Diptyque Christmas Candles 2016

In my home - and mind -, it isn't quite Christmas until I've bought at least one of the limited edition Holiday Diptyque candles - yes they are pricey but as it only happens once a year, I do feel that I can somewhat justify the odd splurge. Then again when it comes to treating myself around this time of the year, there's not much I can't rationalise, on the streets it is called make-up maths...or maybe not but if you do have a little wiggle room in your festive budget you should head to Space.NK and become formally acquainted with the three newest Diptyque arrivals.

Each festive Diptyque launch is pretty covetable (as are the original candles in general) but the Une Nuit Chez Diptyque (quite literally One Night at Diptyque) collective, has a fun, whimsical air and backstory. Legend - also known as the press release - has it that a member of the Diptyque team, fell asleep in their signature store and snoozed soundly to visions of the store coming alive - a modern day Nutcracker if you will. As such, each of the three, beautiful, foil candle jars feature cute yet almost theatrical illustrations, that really feed into the overall concept and of course add to an already charming design.

The great thing about the Une Nuit Chez Diptyque collection is that all tastes - albeit festive - are catered to, from: spicy, sweet and green, there is a fragrance that will appeal to most tastes. My only overall gripe is that they don't ring as true to life as I'd like them to - then again it is fairly rare that a candle does elude an overall realistic scent.

Diptyque Epices et Delices Candle £28-£48 - link
A warm and traditionally spice based fragrance that if the cutesy illustrations are anything to go by, I believe that Diptyque Epices et Delices Candle is based on the sweet yet rich taste of Gingerbread. With key notes of honey, and star anise this both welcoming and familiar - it almost reminds me of home baking, especially cinnamon laced cookies and cakes. If you have a sweet tooth, this most likely will be the fragrance you will be hoping finds it's way under the tree in the days to come.

Diptyque Le Roi Sapin Candle £28-£48 - link
Seemingly this is the fan favourite as it has completely sold out online via Space.NK and I can understand why, who wouldn't want their home to smell reminiscent of an alpine forest. As you can most likely imagine Diptyque Le Roi Sapin Candle is a very green, woody and fresh scent that combines the notes of pine, fir balsam, and Artemisia to bring the outdoors, inside. If you've always liked the idea of owning a real Christmas Tree and can't for whatever reason, this could be the next best thing to the real deal.

Diptyque Un Encens Etoile Candle £28-£48 - link
Perhaps you are not a fan of traditionally warm or spice based home fragrances, and perhaps long for something that reminds you more of the season of Winter opposed to Christmas? If so, the cool, crisp yet seasonably appropriate notes of Diptyque Un Encens Etoile Candle should appeal to you. With soft notes of vanilla and smoky incense this is reminiscent to a snow dusted evening spent by the fire.

Now all you have to do is decide which one you'd like to add to your collection!
