Just like that, four years have passed by and it is almost time to welcome the Olympic Games back onto our televisions and into our everyday conversations. I won't pretend for one moment, that I am an all knowing sporty type (football in both forms is all I know) and live for the Olympics - I don't - but I do enjoy watching the opening ceremony; all the pomp, circumstance and of course the glamour. I find myself glued to the t.v screen wondering how some of the teams can march around an asphalt pitch in 5 inch heels without as much as a grimace who has the best tracksuit and of course wondering who was on hand to style the hair and make-up. You didn't expect anything less from me, now did you?

I can answer two of the above questions for you: one of the most stylish tracksuits you will see at the Olympic Games will belong to Team GB; once again Stella McCartney has designed the official Adidas "uniform", a stylish, bold statement that is a perfect nod to all four nations within the UK. A full Adidas x Stella McCartney tracksuit will set you back a whopping £105, as such you may be more content with styling your hair in a sporty, easy-to-do and wear look that was centre stage today at the kit unveiling, which was the handy-work of Aveda.

Aveda Guest Artist, Paul Knights, created a high performance yet classic hair style for British 2016 Olympic team uniform's first public appearance. “We wanted to create a wearable style that complemented the innovative sports technology designs,” said Knights. “Our goal was to help the athletes perform better than ever than before with a little assistance from Aveda Thickening Tonic to add the right bulk and grip needed to set the style.”

Think a super-slick, low slung, ponytail that rests comfortable on the nape of your neck - a great second day style when your hair has a little more grit and natural resistance. The real key to achieving this look, is to put in the effort and take the time to blow dry the hair straight; patience, small sections, a medium heat and a hair-dryer nozzle are all you really need. For an a little grown up glamour that will take you from the office to the gym with ease, instead of using a standard hair tie to secure the style, wrap a piece of hair around the body of the ponytail and finish with a sturdy grip.

The great thing about this style - aside from looking super polished - is that it is stress free, anyone with medium to long hair can create this at home and unlike a top knot or high ponytail, it is damage free. You can even sleep in it and embrace, the next day slightly grungy-less-than perfect yet pretty style if you are forever hitting the snooze button.

I may not have the abs of an Olympian but at least I can have the ponytail.
