Aesop Deodorant Review

A post about deodorant is never going to be one of my most popular, admittedly it may not be the most exciting product we ever use but it is a staple none-the-less. If you don't have a bizarre allergy to most deodorants I can understand why you'd find it difficult to muster enthusiasm for what is a fairly mundane product, however when you don't have to contend with rashes or going without deodorant full stop, this is something you will want to shout from the rooftops about. Enter Aesop Deodorant, the new love of my beauty life.

Aesop Deodorant Review

After much trial and error, over the last few years I have discovered that I am somewhat allergic to aluminium - not in the sense that I can't touch it, more that my weirdly sensitive armpit area can't tolerate it. Any personal hygiene product that contains  aluminium wrecks havoc on my skin; from large pus filled blisters ( I hope you aren't eating) to Eczema like rashes. What is most bizarre is that it doesn't happen all of the time, there are occasions, even months, in which I have used an "ordinary" deodorant free from reaction but when my skin does misbehave it is agony and not worth running the risk. Yes there are a few aluminium-free deodorising varieties out there but none that smell as good nor perform nearly as well as Aesop Deodorant.

Aesop Deodorant Review

Aesop Deodorant has a truly unisex and general people pleasing Vetiver fragrance - slightly herbal but in a refined and not I-smell-like-Italian-food-seasoning sense; if you are familiar with Aesop products in general you'll know the drill, otherwise think an intenser and edgier version of lavender. Apparently the fragrance and general deodorising composition features 11 essential oils to leave your skin smelling sweet and suitably comforted. As this is not an antiperspirant I'm afraid it won't prevent you from sweating, rather it neutralises odours, free from irritation. This may not sound all that impressive but anything that doesn't leave me with a trail of red blemishes, smelling less than sweet after a gym session, or staining my clothes is always going to get a thumbs up from me.
