5 U.S Drugstore Beauty Products You Need to Try

It will probably come as little surprise that I love the United States of America, if I could I would happily live there (if anyone is looking to adopt an overgrown woman-child, let me know) and as such I do try to visit at least once a year. I of course enjoy and currently reside in the UK but as the saying goes, the grass is always greener and I can't help but find myself more than enjoying US based launches. Sure there is the likes of Sephora to get a quick international beauty fix but really my heart belongs to the Drugstore; I love nothing more than a quick waltz around Walgreens to stock up on bargainous and often innovative products. If you are scheduled to touch down in the US of A any time soon, I have five affordable beauty items you simply have to track down and try out for yourself.

Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen (you can find this via eBay if not in the U.S here - link)
Last year while in Florida, I ran out of facial sunscreen and found myself in the beauty halls of my local Drugstore, debating what liquid SPF I should purchase next. On a whim I settled on Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen SPF55: it was affordable with both UVA and UVB protection, promised not to break out my acne prone skin nor clog my pores and offered a high level of protection. Six months on and there is not a day, in which I don't kick myself for not stock piling this wonderfully light yet protective lotion. Let's forget the price, yes at around £10 for a huge 68ml bottle it is a complete steal, however even if this retailed for £30+ I'd probably still hand over my bank card - yes, the formulation is that good. Don't be fooled by Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen's chalky white appearance, as soon as you apply this gentle-yet-hydrating lotion to the skin, it instantly turns transparent and oddly matte. I never thought I'd be a fan of a matte sunscreen but as this optically blurs enlarged pores and possibly fine lines too, what's not to like; the matte finish also provides a little oil control, ideal for not only balmy weather conditions but as a base for make-up products too. I've just re-ordered two bottles of Neutrogena Clear Face Sunscreen via eBay, and will be bringing home pretty much all I can carry of this SPF once I come home from New York this Summer. You need to try this. Yes I said need.

Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturiser
A few years ago, Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturiser was all anyone could rave about, yet like many other products before and after it interest waned. I may have dabbled with other gradual tanners along the way but to date nothing has quite been able to replace Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturiser. You see, this quick to dry lotion: gently bronzes my skin without turning me a bright orange hue, is fool-proof (it doesn't tend to streak), all the while leaving my skin feeling soft and catered for. Typically I do mostly rely upon the tanning prowess of Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturiser in the cooler months, y'know when a deep bronze tan seems a little unrealistic in the depths of a Glaswegian Winter.

Studio 35 Beauty Complete Moisture Lotion
Studio 35 is Walgreens in-house cosmetic brand, typically they do seek to offer affordable alternatives to well known products. I am none too sure how I feel about how closely Studio 35 mimic the packaging and downright product formulations of the items they are duping; I will however recommend that you try out Studio 35 Beauty Complete Moisture Lotion. Yes this is a rip-off (why bother sugar coating it) of a Vaseline product but oddly this has a thicker and more nourishing texture. A texture that is light yet deeply hydrating and in my experience non-irritating towards Eczema prone skin. The kicker - I bought this in a pre-breakfast haze by mistake, I thought it was Vaseline's Vitamin E Total Moisture Lotion . Sure it turned out to be a happy mistake but perhaps one that Vaseline won't necessarily be all that ecstatic about - hashtag profit loss.

Psssst! Dry Shampoo
Is this the best dry shampoo I have ever used? In a word no, but it isn't the worst either. If you are planning on travelling to the US and want to pack light, then you could easily leave your dry shampoo at home and give Psssst! Dry Shampoo a whirl. It is not overly powdery and as such it doesn't tend to leave a white cast on the hair, couple this with a light and fresh scent and a little additional volume and you have a decent dry shampoo. I should also add that a whopping 50g can costs around $5 so it is pretty cost effective too.

CeraVe Eye Repair Cream (you can find this here via Amazon - link)
Yes I rave about CeraVe Eye Repair Cream at any given opportunity but it truly is a skincare revelation - a gentle yet potent eye cream that not only nourishes, moisturises and protects the delicate skin surrounding the eye. I will leave it here by saying that this works and if you want a more in-depth review, you can read my full post here - link.

Fellow Brits, what do you find yourself dashing around the Drugstore for and perhaps more importantly U.S based beauty lovers - what is the one product that I should try next time I'm in town?
