CeraVe Skin Care Reviews

Fellow British islanders fear not my next two recommendations can be found on Amazon, so if like myself you have struggled in finding the perfect eye cream and/or SPF then you too can feel half as smug as I currently do. For those in the U.S and Canada, a visit to your local drug store (Walgreen's, CVS etc) is all that is required on your part - the warm, fuzzy glow of self righteousness is sold separately.

Let me tell you how I discovered CeraVe skin care - whilst in Florida a few months ago, I stood on my tube of eye cream (I won't say which brand as the memory is still raw) and pretty much emptied the contents all over the bathroom floor. I know what you are thinking - why was the eye cream on the floor to begin with? A spider startled me, I let out a scream, flailed my arms around, bashed into the bathroom shelf and the rest is pretty self explanatory. Aren't you glad you asked?

As someone who is obsessive about eye cream, there was no way I was going to survive without some type of under eye moisturiser. I did what any good person does in a crisis - headed to Walgreen's (seriously along with Denny's this is my favourite place to visit). Unlike the skin care aisles of the UK, there are a good few brands within the U.S market that I had never heard of let alone tried, one such being CeraVe - a quick Google search assured me I was in good hands so I purchased a tube of CeraVe Eye Repair Cream and immediately put it to use.

CeraVe Eye Repair Cream is nothing short of fantastic - a gentle yet quick to absorb, cooling cream that is packed with Niacinamide (vitamin B3, an anti-ageing ingredient that may also promote an even skin tone), ceramides (they may help to repair the skin barrier) and hyaluronic acid (aid the skin in retaining moisture). This non-greasy, fragrance free cream, that has been created by dermatologists not nourishes and hydrates the delicate eye area but repairs existing damage (think fine lines) and may help to slow down the ageing process. From the first application I was smitten, it brightens, comforts and smooths - all with anti-ageing technology, really what more can you ask? At just over £20 a tube it is really affordable, and in terms of ingredients far superior to anything else I have used in the past.

Further intrigued by CeraVe I also purchased a tube of CeraVe Sunscreen (SPF50) and again couldn't be more impressed. Not only is this a high factor, that offers broad spectrum protection (it shields against UVA and UVB rays) but again it boasts anti-ageing technology in the form of Niacinamide and Ceramides - something a lot of UK based brands seem to skimp on. Anti-ageing qualities aside this also contains Invisible Zinc which has been proven to be a far more effective ingredient in shielding the skin from harmful rays; the invisible element refers to the texture, it is lighter than most Zinc based SPF options. As with a lot of products you do have to take the good with the bad: the good is that this is highly protective, waterproof, affordable, non-irritating and features skin restoring ingredients. On the flip side is that it does take a little while to absorb (around 10 minutes in regards to my oily skin) and does leave behind a slightly, chalk cast on the face. If like myself you plan on using this SPF under make up (it does not alter the finish of any product applied on top), I can't really see this being an issue but I want to point it out none the less. This is now my daily, go to SPF and I can't see this changing any time soon.

CeraVe you have well and truly won me over.
