MAC Teddy Eye Khol Review

Consider me a convert, not only to khol pencil but brown hues in liner form. A few years ago when I was still in school I went through a phase of heavily lining my eyes with a black khol pencil - less than flattering when you have small eyes to begin with. Needless to say I have a few school photos that will never see the light of day again. Fast forward and I'm flirting with the soft pencil formula once again, this time around I do favour warm, almost ruddy bronze browns that are applied sparingly. One shade that I have but sharpened to a nub and have now had to purchase a new pencil is - MAC Teddy Khol or as I lovingly refer to it - my do all, suit all eye pencil of choice.

Do we really need to discuss the packaging? As sleek as MAC liners in general are, I don't find them to be the easiest to sharpen, to resolve this I tend to freeze them (yes really, I pop in the freezer for around 10 minutes and then remove) and sharpen with a metal pencil sharpener. It tends to be the easiest method, well at least as far as I am concerned anyway.

MAC Teddy Eye Khol is perhaps best described as a warm, slightly red toned, mid chocolate brown - a mouthful of a description but a dazzling shade that has to be seen to be believed. It is very similar to MAC Constructivist in colour/tone but obviously in a solid, pencil form that is by far easier to use to line and define the eyes. Due to the somewhat ruddy tone of MAC Teddy, it really enhances blue and green eyes - it of course looks great on all and is a great everyday staple. The beauty of the shade is that it can be used to line the eyes, applied all over the eye lid and blended out for a smoky, brown look or even used as a eyeshadow based - not to shabby for a £14 pencil huh?

Despite being a somewhat firm texture, MAC Teddy Khol glides onto the skin fairly easy with next to no pulling nor tugging at the skin. I would recommend warming the pencil a little with your fingertips to further ease application but this is not completely necessary. Yes MAC liners are not the most budget friendly option out there but in this instance, you get what you pay for - a well pigmented, easy to use liner that is not prone to smudging nor smearing and wears exceptionally well (around 5 hours per application), even when applied to the waterline.

I never thought an eye liner of any description would sneak its way into my top five products of all time and yet here we are. Trust me you need to try this out for yourself.
