In the name of skin care I have sucked it up and tried a Coffee based facial mask. You see I hate the smell of Coffee and seem to be one of the few people, whom has reached adulthood without being able to describe the beverage as a taste. That's right I have never tried Coffee and highly doubt I ever will. I also have a strong dislike for hot chocolate and most hot drinks. Not so fun facts aside, I do trust Lush Facial masks and when one promises to deliver softer, brighter and plumper skin - not only my face but also body I will slap it on regardless of the scent. That's right, I finally gave Lush Cup O' Coffee Face and Body Mask a whirl and here is how I got on.
As you've most likely come to gather, both from my rant above and the colour of Lush Cup O' Coffee Face and Body Mask not only contains coffee but shares such fragrance too. It doesn't remind me of a freshly brewed pot of Coffee, rather it has the fragrance of yet to be ground Coffee beans. Truthfully it is a fairly intense scent and I would imagine that if like myself you don't enjoy Coffee the fragrance may be a little overpowering. To that I say, if you can please bear with the mask, as it does deliver and is a great way to brighten and polish the skin - face and body with little effort.
You apply Lush Cup O' Coffee Face and Body Mask as you any other mask - gently massage onto dry skin, leave for up to 15 minutes and then rinse clean. I would add that you should apply using, small circular movements to gently buff and massage the skin, and remove in a similar fashion. By doing so you will polish the complexion and body, free from irritation and make the most of the gritty texture - should you wish you could also use a muslin cloth to remove the mask for a deeper cleanse. Upon removal I did notice that my skin was a little pink, which does dispel fairly quickly. Once the redness had disappeared, the first thing I noticed was just how soft my skin felt (all over) - I kid you not when I say I spent a good ten or so minutes stroking my own face after the first use. Due to the deep cleanse come exfoliation, I also noticed that my pores looked a little smaller and my skin was absolutely glowing, much like after any facial I have had in the past.
If it wasn't for the fragrance of this mask I would line my bathroom shelves with it and slather myself top to toe, in the gently scrub like texture. I sadly can't quite get over the aroma which somewhat spoils the whole experience for me.

I absolutely hate coffee too, I thought I was the only one! I've heard so many good things about this mask though so I might just have to suck it up and try it. I have my Cranberry one to use up first though!

I love the smell of coffee unfortunately lush shut down in my country. I'm quite upset. I shall have to beg friends to bring it when the travel. :D
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean by the smell but I just can't get enough of this scrub! I've actually used it on my legs and it makes them super duper smooth.

I was in lush the other day and ended up buying the montalbano shampoo, which works wonders for my hair. I'm nearly running out of my current face mask, and this one seems great so I reckon I might just have to give it a go!
ReplyDeleteI'm really loving your photographs, by the way. What camera, and which techniques do you use?

I really wanted to try this mask but wasn't sure how I would like it. The scent will probably be something that annoys me too since I hate highly scented face/body skincare products.

Coffee is not my thing also. I was going to pick this up when I was Lush the other day but instead went for the Cranberry Festive face mask.

What a shame you didn't like the smell. I think I'd have to give it a whiff before purchasing.

I love coffee but I don't like the smell of these scrubs either!
ReplyDeleteI love this product so much. Weird for me, love the smell of coffee but suffer an allergic reaction if I drink it!
ReplyDeleteThe only hang up I had with this is that it stained my shower curtain so badly (I cleanse pre-shower, then rinse during). Sadly my partner hates the smell, so I can't use it when he's around *sad face*
Thank you for this lovely review!
ReplyDeleteLooks really like a great mask.

I nearly bought this one but am currently using up my lettuce one first - that is great - it is one of the fresh ones that you keep in the fridge!

I must admit I do like coffee, but only lattes... especially of the pumkin spiced one! :) This one is next on the list, after the bright blue one :)
ReplyDeleteI am obsessing over wax melts and candles at the moment:

Although I do drink hot chocolate (but not crappy watery ones) I can't stand tea or coffee and have never drunk either. I had a sniff of this one in store a few days ago and I didn't like it. I did come away with the Christmas limited edition Cranberry, which I do like, but the scent is very strong! x

I'm due to finish my first pot of this face mask, and it is by far my favourite mask ever! I can't wait to pick up another tub soon. ^_^

I'm not that keen on strong smells but everything else about this sounds amazing and I think it would be super-invigorating in the morning :) xx
