Your Best False Eyelash Application Tips

It's been a while since we've had an open discussion thread in the style of "Asking for a Friend", a post in which we can all share tips and trades stories as we would in real life with our friends. Currently on my list of things to truly master is the fickle application of false eyelashes. A few years ago I could apply them without as much as a second thought, it probably helps that back then, myself and a few friends would order the cheap and somewhat overly fake in design, heavy styles that eBay used to offer. Think of the most hideously fake false eyelashes you have ever seen, in a pack of 10 for 99p and you won't go far wrong. Oddly as they were so ridged in style, they were a breeze to apply. However they were easily mistaken for a spider or two and scared the life out of me on more than one occasion, when a rogue eyelash pinged off and attached itself to my clothing/bedding/floor.

Nowadays I much prefer a natural, fluttery look - a my eyelashes but better appearance if you will. I want to enhance my natural eye shape rather than drown my small eyes in heavy styles. I'm a huge fan of the wispy, barely there false eyelash style that Ardell and Eylure do so well - to be fair both brands offer an abundance of additional styles too, all of which I find to be affordable and durable (you can reuse many if not all styles). The only problem is the more delicate the lash design, the trickier it is to apply, well in my experience anyway.

Your Best False Eyelash Application Tips

Trust me when I say I've tried all the regular application tips: allowing the glue to all but dry, employing the services of tweezers, looking downwards into the mirror and offering up a prayer and candle to the make up Gods. Sometimes I get lucky and I am suitable pleased with my application, other times I'm lucky if I can apply one eyelash and even then it is touch and go with the corners detaching after a few hours (Duo Glue why you don't you love me like the others?). I couldn't tell you what I am doing wrong - I buy well made designs with no heavy or visible band, I patiently waft the eyelash around until the glue is tacky, look down and using tweezers try my darnedest to apply to my real eyelashes rather than my eye lid and yet it is forever touch and go.

Is it a case of practice makes perfect? Or am I missing out on a live altering eyelash application hack, please feel free to enlighten me. Seriously I'm about one pin on Pinterest from giving up and accepting I'll never have long, fluttery, faux eyelashes.
