No7 Core Collection Brush Set Review

Affordable yet good quality brushes aren't the easiest thing to come by on the high street; one brand that doesn't get nearly enough recognition within the beauty tool industry is Boots No7. With a wide range of affordable brushes, all of which not only deliver professional results but also stand the test of time, you own yourself to at least try one brush from the No7 collection.

Recently my trusty brush roll unravelled at the seams, five years of travelling and a span of abuse had taken its toll. I made a mental note to replace it at some point and thought no more of it. Boots was the last place I thought I'd find a brush roll to suit my needs - compact yet spacious enough to hold an array of daily beauty tools. At £23 the Boots No7 Core Collection Brush Set costs less than my first stand alone, empty brush roll and contains four brushes to boot.

As you can see the No7 Core Collection Brush Set rolls out flat to store up to eight brushes, due to the design said brushes can be full size or travel proportioned - both work equally well. The elasticated brush slots ensure that the brushes stay in place and the protective flap prevents bristle damage,  when travelling and of course not in use. Unlike traditional brush rolls, the No7 Core Collection Brush Set folds away using a magnetic closure and looks more like a mini clutch/large wallet than it does a brush set.

Now on to the four brushes, each of which are not only beautifully made with synthetic bristles but feature weighted handles for ease of use. As mentioned above, they wash well - retaining their original shape, with very little shedding (if any) and with a lifespan of easily three years plus per brush.

The four brushes within the No7 Core Collection Brush Set are as follows:

No7 Foundation Brush - A soft, tapered brush that works best with liquid and cream formulations. It gently buffs foundation and concealer into the skin with ease and doesn't have a tendency to absorb excessive amounts of product. Due to the tapered style, it also doubles up as a great tool to contour and highlight with if you are a fan of cream/liquid formulations for such technique.

No7 Concealer Brush - A smaller version of the above Foundation Brush, again the tapered style allows for precision application. This is perfect for not only concealing the under eye area but targeting blemishes too.

No7 Blusher Brush - A small, round top dual fibre brush that is great for applying both cream and powder formulations. If like myself you are a little heavy handed this is the brush for you, it gently diffuses even the most pigmented of blushes for a natural, healthy glow.

No7 Eye Colour Brush - Again a fairly small brush, the paddle design is great for packing on colour to the eye lid. I do find this to be the weakest brush of the bunch, due to the firm texture it can be a little irritating/rough on the eye area and oddly the densely packed bristles don't really pick up much colour when used with a powder eyeshadow.

A great little kit wouldn't you agree?
