To know me, it to know that I am no fan of honey scented products nor the taste of the sticky substance. It is one of those things I want to like, everyone else seems to enjoy honey scents and tastes and here I am on the outside, looking in. A clear case of F.O.M.O (fear of missing out) if ever there was one. Well one product allows me to be part of that gang, the newly reformulated Lush Honey I Washed My Hair Shampoo Bar. If all honey scented products shared such aroma.
"Deliciously toffee-scented, this syrupy sweet bar will make your hair turn heads (and noses). Honey is renowned for adding softness and shine to locks. To top it all off uplifting sweet wild orange and bergamot oils create an aroma that transports your troubles away."
Lush Honey I Washed My Hair Shampoo Bar has a soft, creamy yet sweet and as mentioned above almost Toffee fragrance. It is a joy to experience and almost good enough to eat, at times it oddly reminds me of the scent of honeycomb, this may not appeal to staunch honey lovers but for everyone else it is delightful. In fact you mid yourself washing your hair a little longer than normal just to soak up the aroma.
If you are new to Lush Shampoo bars let me briefly explain; they are compact, long lasting (one bar equates to 800ml of liquid shampoo) and solid, which equates to zero mess until they become wet. To use you have two options: you can simply wet the bar, rub between your hands and apply as you would a liquid shampoo. The other option is to rub the shampoo bar straight on to the hair and scalp. I don't personally recommend doing this as the bars are fairly solid and by doing so you could damage the hair. I recommend purchasing the Lush Round Tin or any small container with a lid to keep your products dry in-between use, you must allow the bar to dry out I before popping them into an air tight container for hygiene purposes - nobody wants a mouldy bar of shampoo/soap after all.
Each Lush Shampoo Bar has been created for different hair types and purposes, Lush Honey I Washed My Hair Shampoo Bar is ideal for dried out and rough hair textures, it has been loaded with honey to moisturise and soften the hair. I have fairly wavy come curly hair that is pretty untameable at the best of times and I find that Lush Honey I Washed My Hair Shampoo Bar not only leaves my hair soft, shiny but with less frizz and static too. Sadly it does not do much for my baby hairs which have a mind of their own and are currently standing on end as we speak - yeah I have no idea why either. As far as shampoos go I do find this better suited to thicker hair types as it is so moisturising and as such it may weigh down finer hair textures if used regularly.

This looks and sounds amazing! I don't usually like honey-scented products either but if it smells like honeycomb then I'm more than willing to give it a go, haha! Great review, thanks for the recommendations, I'll definitely be trying this out! xx

I've never used any Lush products for my hair but I'm really tempted to try this out! We have the same type of hair type and I don't mind honey smell, so this might be good for me!

Thanks for the great review! I've been contemplating getting a shampoo bar for a while but wasn't sure because it is so different than what I'm used to.

You've completely sold me on the idea of shampoo bars! I've always steered away from them 'cause I thought they might be awkward to use, but I might have to pick up one of these next time I'm in Lush. The honeycomb type scent sounds dreamy too!

I love this review and I also love being reminded that Lush is not just great for their bath products. I live in a flat that only has a shower, so unfortunately I only have the memory of beautiful bath bombs and bars so now, I don't really go in (despite the smell being amazing) because I am saddened that I cannot use the products that smell so great, what a drama queen! This has just been a reminder that their other products are fab too, I will have to go pick this up next time I am in town. Plus, I love the scent of honey type products!

ReplyDeleteI've looked at these a couple of times in Lush and never quite understood the concept. I have really long hair, so maybe something like this could actually work. I might have to give it a go!

I've wanted to try this and the orange scented bar for ages but read no reviews and didn't know whether it would be any good. Relieved to hear it's worth buying :) do you have trouble fitting the bars into the round tins? I've heard some people say they don't fit well.
ReplyDeleteI find the concept of hair soap so strange!
