Wax Box August 2015 Review

Wax Box was my first introduction to home fragrance subscription plans and perhaps the catalyst to my current addiction. An affordable and very much varied selection of scented wax goods sent directly to your door once a month, what sets Wax Box aside from all other plans of this kind is that you receive both well known brands such as Yankee et al, alongside independent retailers. When it comes to home fragrance variety (and surprises) you can't beat Wax Box. Let me share what is inside Wax Box August 2015...

I believe that Wax Box do follow a theme but very loosely, for instance most of the fragrances within the August edition are fruity but the general concept is really to explore new brands. This month's Wax Box contains five various wax tarts of sorts, and an additional teal light holder accessory which you can see above.

First up we have a sweet, candy inspired bag of mini wax melts in the fragrance of Love Bite from Candy Wick. This is one of the many fruity scents within this month's box - a bright, blend of lime and cherry. Despite their dinky stature, each wax heart is packed with fragrance, you only need around four hearts to fragrance a whole room and as they are so small you can add them to other wax tarts for a zest kick.

From JJ Aromascents there is a large wax tart in the fragrance Berrylicious which reminds me a lot of raspberry ripple ice cream. As this is on the larger side and again jam packed with fragrance oil, you really only need 1/4 of the tart per burn to fill a room with a sweet berry scent.

Continuing with the fruity theme is the rather beautifully both to smell and look at are the Whicks n Whacks Jamaica Me Crazy - a true, mixed tropical fruit scent that will pick up even the dullest of days. If you like Pina Colada's and maybe dancing in the rain (gah if that is not the worst pun you read all day, you are doing well), this is a fragrance you will want to burn time and time again.

Now on to the two wax melts that I did not enjoy, coincidentally both are inspired by popular perfume houses. First up we have The Owl and the Moggy Cat Candles Wax Tarts in Chantelle Chance, as someone who wears Chanel Chance I can't say that the tarts quit capture the essence of the iconic perfume. Rather I would deem them to be deeply floral and rather youthful.

There is also a tart by Mystic Melts in the fragrance Joop, I can't say I'm all that familiar with said aftershave but it is a fairly clean albeit masculine scent in wax form. A great scent for those who enjoy a more musky scent and of course for the gent in your life. Not a favourite but it does win points for being fairly unusual.

In a nutshell, a great option for those who enjoy slightly more obscure and unknown home fragrance brands coupled with the convenient monthly deliveries, all for a fairly wallet friendly price of £13.95 per box. You can subscribe here - link.
