Summer may be waning but myself and many others are not quite ready to succumb to layers of clothing, the wet weather and heavy fragrances. If you are looking for a new fragrance that has all the warmth of Summer yet has a little extra kick that lends itself to the cooler seasons too, you need Jo Malone Mimosa & Cardamom Cologne and maybe the candle too.
"A new bohemia awaits. Mists of honeyed, golden mimosa float above the spiciness of freshly crushed cardamom. Creamy tonka and smooth sandalwood woven under powdery heliotrope and Damask rose picked at dawn. Warm, ethereal, mesmerising.” - Jo Malone.
Jo Malone Mimosa & Cardamom Cologne is unlike any other Jo Malone fragrance (past, present and limited edition), it has a certain familiarity perhaps it is the powdery dry down which reminds me a little of Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede cologne, yet not at all indicate. It is extremely tricky to pin point what, where or perhaps who the newest Jo Malone addition reminds me of. Like home it is welcoming, warm and comforting yet it magically whisks me away, well in my mind at least to more exotic lands. Maybe the Marrakesh, maybe Turkey - the world of travel is your oyster with this scent. Yes it reminds me of the heat of the sun and escaping Scotland but I must stress that it is not an obvious Summer scent - by that I mean there is no heavy coconut, aquatic or overly fruity note. It has heat but more of a subtle spice trail than Pina Colada and sun oil.
Jo Malone Mimosa & Cardamom Cologne contains three main notes: Cardamom, Mimosa and Tonka Bean. I'll admit that on paper this may seem overly complicated but it provides something for everyone and covers all bases - fresh, floral and spice notes. I've mentioned a few times that this has a spice kick, now as someone who tends to avoid spicy scents it may relive others to learn that it adds a certain richness, depth and warming kick, rather than reminding me of Christmas (so eloquently put huh?).
Jo Malone Mimosa & Cardamom Cologne manages the impossible, three fairly robust key fragrance notes that should translate to a heavy, difficult to wear scent and yet it is the polar opposite. The newest fragrance is light, airy, carefree yet makes a statement - it personifies the term bohemian and to an extent could be described as ethereal. For those like myself who really enjoy layering fragrances I have to say I have found this to blend well with the aforementioned Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede Cologne for a brighter floral kick and for those looking for a fruitier edge, I insist you combine it with Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia Cologne - it is heavenly and it is all I can do not to purchase a full sized bottle. Someone hide my bankcard please.
To celebrate the new launch, Jo Malone have a fun, free online tool that allows you to create your very own digital tile design wallpaper for your desktop. I have lost an hour of my life playing around with colours and patterns. You can try it out here - link.

ReplyDeleteThis sounds like such a lovely scent, just from the word "mimosa"! I'm glad to hear that the spiciness isn't overpowering!
