Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion comes in a sizeable 300ml (it also comes in a 400ml size) bottle, that rather helpfully features an inbuilt pump function which makes for a far more pleasurable application experience. Before you guff, hear me out - I moisturise after popping out of the shower, surfaces and sometimes my skin are a little damp, squeezing or scooping out body moisturiser, when all I want to do is get dressed is more than likely going to result in me skipping the whole process. I know some are now nodding in agreement.
Let's forget the packaging; like people it is what is on the inside that counts (you live for my cheesy puns, don't you?) - a silken, almost gel like lotion, that glides on to the skin with ease, quickly replenishing any lost moisture, cooling and calming in one quick step. Unlike a good few other body moisturisers, I have used in the past this is not at all heavy, sticky nor greasy - quite the opposite rather. It is weightless, quick to absorb, leaving the skin feeling nourished and noticeably softer from the first application. As a matter of a fact Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion has been scientifically proven to improve the condition of dry skin instantly, as well as protecting it continuously for up to 24 hours after the first use. As you may or may not know Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion relies on natural ingredients one such being oats. It may seem baffling to wear rather than eat your oats but it works and here is how Aveeno put them into practise:
- Cleanses: the oat particles adhere to dirt and dead skin cells allowing them to be washed away
- Protects: creates a protective film on the surface of the skin
- Buffers: helps return skin to normal pH levels
Along with applying Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion daily (almost religiously and somewhat deem it an achievement, perhaps not CV worthy but I am proud), I have generally been taking care of the skin on my body. Here is a few tips and tricks, I have gathered along the way - all lazy gal approved:
- Exfoliating mitts are the quickest way to quickly buff off dry skin from the body, combine with shower gel and you get two jobs ticked off in one go.
- Perhaps not a Winter friendly activity but when my hair is extremely dry, I sleep in conditioner and rinse it out the following morning.
- Much like the skin on your face, the skin on your body requires hydration - drinking water is the quickest and easiest way to do this. Not to mention cheap and cheerful, to make the process a little more enjoyable I add lemon, cucumber and mint - yum.
- To prevent premature ageing wear SPF every single day, especially on the areas exposed to sun light. I'm pretty sure our 60 year old selves will thank us.
- Make the time to apply lip balm and hand cream, both areas tend to become neglected in the whole self care process yet are the most prone to drying out.
I'm keen to know your top tips for better skin and tag my good friend Annie (and everyone else for that matter) to share theirs using the hashtag #AveenoSkincareSecrets

I'm like you, when it comes to my face I take care of it a lot, buy my body and my feet... Exfoliating and moiturising it's not a must, and now that I have a little bit of a tan I should do it, but I'm always too lazy.
ReplyDeleteThose products, on the other hand, sound amazing!
Nice post! xx

I love using that Aveeno lotion. I actually moisturise every day, but I developed this stubborn dry patch about 6 months ago and nothing worked on it. I decided to try aveeno and it got rid of it so quickly!
ReplyDeleteI don't use it as much anymore, but when the dry patches flare up it's the first thing I reach for. Definitely a must-have product.
I have actually never used a body moisturiser or exfoliator im like you i take great care of my face but forget my body

I loved reading this post, body lotion is one of my fav things!!! The price tag on this is amazing, so affordable but it sounds like it really does the job and keeps skin hydrated and smooth! Exfoliation is key for me & drinking water is definitely helping with my hydration levels both on my face and body!

Great post. I definitely don't exfoliate as much as I should. i think a really good skincare secret of mine is coconut oil - it as so many purposes including nourishing your hair, your cuticles, great for anti-inflammation - the list is endless x

Aveeno's is literally my holy grail, it's the only think that clear up my eczema without any irritation at all unlike creams that claim they are good for eczema such as E45 cream. I use Aveeno's as a alternative from the steroid cream my doctor gives me so that just shows how good this stuff really is. Love it! Highly suggest it to anyone with dry skin.

Well, this is something worth checking out. It seems like a good product to try out indeed.
ReplyDeleteOats are so great for skin, i actually have 4 papers sat on my desk which talk about their skin loving abilities!! They balance skin pH, by not actually changing pH themselves, so they just keep on doing their thing!! Love these guys, there also oat lipid oil which has even more effects than the powdered form - i think Aveeno contains both!

Aveeno is an amazing brand - I really need to get my hands on this. I always make sure I think a lot of water and wear SPF on my lips. It's the two things I am awful at, but I have found that I am getting back at it x

Hi guys, I see that little special boxes can be ordered here, but I live in the US and can't get the boxes I see on here, are there any really inexpensive boxes I can order that sends me great products for my skin, hair and beauty? I'm 50 and I want to stay young. Please help me out, I'm having so much fun reading all these posts but I live in the US and want to experience great stuff too. I just started working again so I need to keep this on the inexpensive side for now. Ideas? Please help I'm 50 and feel 20....
ReplyDeleteLOL Rose...me, too. Never understood why my mother had to wear short skirts and spaghetti straps back in the 60,s when I wouldn't be caught dead in them! However, I understood the urge more and more as my middle age era came and kept going on to retirement...I think I was more excited about my granddaughter's Fall dance shopping this year than she was! (I am still drooling over her silver glittery heels, but they are (fortunately) too small for me! ( I am now relegated to flats only :(
ReplyDeleteBack to Aveeno....love it! They make the best hand cream, but it is difficult to find here.
