In the midst of composing a Father's Day gift guide, I rediscovered Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille Eau de Parfum and decided that it was simply too irresistible not to dedicate a full post to the fragrance. if you are looking to treat a loved one or simply in the market for a warm, familiar yet unusual scent then read on.
"A modern take on an old world men’s club. A smooth Oriental, Tobacco Vanille opens immediately with opulent essences of Tobacco Leaf and aromatic spice notes. The heart unfolds with creamy Tonka Bean, Tobacco Flower, Vanilla and Cocoa, and finishes with a Dry Fruit Accord, enriched with Sweet Wood Sap."
For most Tobacco creates connotations of stale smoke and in general cigarettes, well cast those aside as the Tobacco note is rich, somewhat spicy and very robust. Yes it has a somewhat smoky presence but think along the lines of wood burning and open fires rather than an ashtray! Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille Eau de Parfum is said to be unisex which I do of course agree with but do think this leans more masculine than it does feminine. If you have a spot soft for rich, slightly spiced, full bodied scents this is one I doubt you'll be able to resist.
The full note line up is as follows: Ginger, Tobacco Leaves, Anise, Coriander, Tobacco Flower, Clove, Spices (I believe that one of the spices has to be Cinnamon), Fruit Wood Sap, Benzoin, Vanilla, Tonka Bean. Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille Eau de Parfum has an almost festive tone - it is slightly boozy, sweet and of course both woody and spice based. It reminds me a little of cognac and Christmas cake, admittedly not everyone's bag but it offers a certain level of comfort and happiness, the very sweet and present Vanilla stops this from being too obvious. As a matter of a fact this is one of those truly unique scents that can not be compared to others, it will have all those around you enquiring just what you are wearing and compliments galore. A word to the wise, a little goes a long way and the lasting power is incredible - well you wouldn't expect anything less from a £142 fragrance now would you?

The name is so off-putting, but every time I hear a description of the scent I'm so tempted!

If you like this try Eau Des Baux by L'Occitane, it's my everyday go-to and rather cheaper. I'd be very interested to hear what you think.
ReplyDeleteI had a bottle of this for Christmas a couple of years ago - it lasted for ages, and I did have compliments and questions about my perfume every time I wore it. I've run out now, but I think a bottle might be on my Christmas list again this year!
