As a huge fan of Clinique's Take the Day Off Balm I was more than excited and intrigued to try the new addition to the line up - Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Oil. Boasting all the benefits of the original product with the convenience of an oil base, Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Oil looks set to become my new go to cleanser.
The good news is that much like the balm of the same name, Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing oil is unscented - perfect if you have sensitised skin as it will not irritate or if you simply don't like scented products. Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Oil is a gentle cleanser yet completely effective; it removes all traces of my make-up with ease (even heavy foundation and waterproof mascara), leaves my skin feeling both soft and hydrated which isn't all that easy at the moment I also rather enjoy that it is safe to use on the eye area and removes mascara; without pulling or tugging on such a delicate area. On the skin Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Oil feel light and luxurious, to apply is quite the treat to apply. It quickly melts off all traces of make-up without stripping the skin, despite being an oil it is suitable for all skin types - yes even oily and dry complexions.
This light silky oil, does emulsify when it comes into contact with water making the removal process that little easier. I do recommend being pretty vigilant when it comes to the removal stage as with any oil cleanser, I recommend rinsing the face twice with a facial cloth to ensure every scrap is gone to avoid blocked pores and/or blemishes. I don't see it being too much of r a problem as it doesn't have a tendency to leave behind any residue.
Now for the million dollar question - Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansers do I prefer? As someone who naturally prefers oil based products it has to be Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Oil. I like that it cleanses deeply without being harsh or irritating, that I don't need a separate product for my eye make-up nor do I have to warm it with my hands before application like you do the balm. I also find that with the oil I use less product per application, which results in better value for money. Don't get me wrong they both more than get the job done but given the choice I'd plump for the oil each and every time.

I have the balm and absolutely love that but don't like to use it to remove my eye makeup. I think this range from Clinique is really good and once I've finished the balm I might try out the oil. x

This sounds quite too good to be true! I know that The Body Shop do dupes of these so I may try them first before trying out Clinique's offerings.

I have the balm at the moment, but i've never been a huge fan of balm cleansers - I prefer oil based ones too. I'm so glad they've launched this in a different format!

Great post! But honestly, I don't trust putting oils on my face... Cause my face is oily enough. That's what I always think. I know I'm probably wrong, but it just one of those things lol :p

I've avoided the TTDO cleansing balm for so long because it has a high shea butter content and I'm not sure that would work well with my oily skin - I'm glad to see it in oil form now and can't wait to try it out.

I use their cleansing balm and I absolutely love it. I use the Body Shop Cleansing Oil and I find this one oiler than the Body Shop one, and I'm currently trying out a new cleansing oil :)

Hey, I've never used clinique but this does look like a good product, I use a lotion based make up remover but this oil one sounds better for sensitive skin x

Cleansing oils kinda scare me but I really do want to try one.
ReplyDeleteI'm waiting (patiently) for this product to arrive in South Africa. I loved the Balm version, but I'm an oil girl through and through.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realise when I bought this from House of Fraser recently that it was a new product. I just needed a skincare item to buy (yes I admit it, to get the Bonus time gift!) and as cleansing oils are my favourite way to remove makeup I thought I'd try this. I haven't tried it yet as I'm currently using the Vichy one but I'm looking forward to trying it out x
