Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm

A few days ago I took to Twitter and asked for a scent description of the now infamous Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm. I had read and heard all about how wondrous this lip balm was but was forever off put due to one key ingredient - Honey! Yes Honey is wonderfully moisturising and works wonders on the skin but the scent is one thing I can not get on board with. I kid you not when I say that the fragrance of Honey turns my stomach and makes me gag - a little extreme but there you have it. This is why I have not as much as sniffed the Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm in store.

Well on Twitter everyone who answered my bizarre call reassured me that Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm is not a honey based fragranced product rather it reminds some of Terry's Chocolate Orange (yum) or Lemon Curd (double yum). Oddly it reminds me off both, sometimes when I apply it I can detect a whiff of orange then at other points it certainly is lemony. To be safe let's just label it as a citrus based fragrance - it does contain Grapefruit Essence but it doesn't ring true in terms of scent. One last note about the scent is that once on the lips it is really mild, you can't taste it nor constantly smell it.

"An intensely hydrating lip balm that will protect and repair dry, sore and chapped lips.French skincare brand Nuxe road-tested this ultra-hydrating lip balm in Canada to ensure that its unique blend of nourishing plant extracts and oils could protect delicate lip skin against extreme cold and intense environmental stresses. Their winning formula - which has gained Rève Miel Lip Balm a cult beauty following the world over - comprises honey, plant oils, shea butter and grapefruit essence to instantly protect, repair and restore comfort to chapped lips."

Fragrance aside the first thing you will notice about Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm is the texture, it is very, very thick, silky soft and a little sticky. It reminds me of a typical silicone based primer in terms of consistency but as soon as it is applied to the lips it melts into the skin, gone is the stickiness and heaviness for that matter. The lips instantly feel moisturised and wrapped in a barrier of hydration, ready for anything the elements may throw your way. Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm is easily one of the longest wearing lip balms I have ever tried, one application is still on my lips three to four hours later. From the first application my lips felt soothed and softer, I have applied this at night, two nights in a row and all signs of dry and chapped skin has disappeared. No it isn't medicated but it does a stellar job of healing cracked lips.

In a nut shell Nuxe Rêve de Miel Lip Balm is beautifully scented and worth the hype.
If you need a heavy duty lip balm splurge on this, you will not regret it.
