My Longest Wearing Make Up Picks

Let's face it not everyone has the time to constantly touch or top up their make-up throughout the day let alone the want to do it. As someone with typically oily skin I do find that most make-up slides off my face within a matter of hours, let alone a full working day. With that in mind I have gathered together my hardest working products to spill the beans on what simply does not falter under the pressure of excess oil, sweat and general day to day nuisances...

Concealer - Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer
A light, creamy yet high coverage concealer that easily conceals any skin imperfection be it dark circles, blemishes, redness or scarring. It glides on the skin, blends with ease and when used on the eye area really brightens and lifts the complexion. Yes the shade range could do with a little (or a lot) of expansion but when it comes to wear time I find this fairly difficult to beat. I will be entirely honest in stating that to really benefit from the prolonged wear benefits you do have to set the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer with powder (I find loose works best), not only does this keep it in place but if used on the eye area it also helps control any creasing too. This is one of the few concealers I own in which I can apply first thing in the morning and I can safely bet it will be still firmly in place at the end of the evening.

Eyeshadow - MAC Paint Pots
I have yet to stumble across a powder eyeshadow in which could rival the lasting power of MAC Paint Pots. If you are not typically a fan of cream eyeshadows I truly believe that this is the formula that will change your mind forever. Unlike some cream eyeshadows these are not overly soft nor creamy, they somewhat have a sticky yet firm texture which is oddly easy to apply and blend out. In my opinion they don't crease nor fade even on oily eyelids and they can double up as eyeshadow bases too - if you purchase a deep shade you can also use it as an eye liner. Talk about bang for your buck.

Lipstick - Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks
If I am entirely honest Sephora's Lip Creams pip Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks to the post of longest wearing lipstick, however as most of my readers are based in the UK I felt it was only fair that I included an easier to find option. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks are admittedly a little drying and do require patience when applying as to really reap the benefits you do have to let the lipstick set. Once set Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks do not budge, you have long wearing, bright yet matte lip colour that will survive eating, drinking and chatting. A little goes a long, long way with this formula, one tube will last you forever and a day.

Blush - Tarte Amazonian Clay Long Wear Blushes
Not everyone is a fan on Tarte blushes but personally I have yet to find anything better in terms of longevity. In my opinion Tarte Amazonian Clay Long Wear Blushes are extremely pigmented so they do require a light hand, the good news is that not even my oily skin or the horrid Glasgow weather can budge this from my cheeks. The hardest working blush I have in my stash!

My Longest Wearing Make Up Picks

Brows - Make Up Forever Aqua Brow
I am so glad that Make Up Forever is coming to the UK this coming Spring as it is easily one of the best make-up brands I have ever come across. I don't have the best brows in the world, far from it - I guess it is one of the downsides of being naturally fair. My brows are really blonde, sparse and generally a nightmare to fill due to the ashy tone. Couple that with oily skin and as you can imagine brow products that I really rate are hard to come by. Make Up Forever Aqua Brow really is my brow saviour not only does it look entirely natural both in colour (I use shade #10) and finish but nothing budges this once set - well unless you want to remove it of course. I kid you not when I say one application of this survives 12 hours + without fading, smudging or smearing. The only problem is that once you switch to Make Up Forever Aqua Brow nothing else compares.

Mascara - Revlon Bold Lacquer by Grow Luscious Length and Volume Mascara
A mouthful yes and it did seem a little gimmicky but this is one of the few mascaras I swear by. As someone with often oily skin I find mascara can smudge rather quickly and easily - this does not flake never mind smudge! Admittedly this is not a waterproof formula but I can tell you with that confidence that it isn't prone to running when caught in a rain fall. Revlon Bold Lacquer by Grow Luscious Length and Volume Mascara doesn't clump despite my desire to apply four coats, it simply creates long, fluttery eyelashes with plenty of volume. I can't contest if it does or does not encourage eyelashes to grow but it is a brilliant all round mascara regardless and on the plus side my eyelashes have never looked better! I have lost count to how many tubes I have purchased over the last year or so that is how much I adore the formula.

Eyeshadow Primer - Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
I have tried just about every eyeshadow primer going and this is the one I turn to daily, nothing and I mean nothing grips eyeshadow or eyeliner for that matter quite like Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. I find not only does it grip on to eyeshadow be it powder, cream or gel but it encourages the colour to be brighter and bolder. I have extremely oily eye lids and find this is the only primer that prevents creasing completely as well as ensuring I still have product on my eye lids after a few hours.

Eyeliner - Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Khol Kajal
Soft, creamy, well pigmented and budget friendly not to mention they wear oh so well. Be it on my lash line, water line or as a creamy eyeshadow I can rely on the Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Khol Kajal to stay in place. If you are a fan of the Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliners but not so much the price this is the line for you. As many will know I am a huge advocate of the shade nude A.K.A I can not be without it.

I purposely have not included foundation or setting powders as they tend to be less suit all in terms of formulation. I may do a separate post on long wearing base products if it is of interest?
