Lush Cupid's Love Soap Review

Lush Cupid's Love Soap

One thing I have learned from being a beauty blogger is you can't love all of the products, all of the time, even if you are easily pleased. As much as I am enjoying Lush's Valentine's Day collection one product that I haven't been able to get on board with is Lush Cupid's Love Soap. Now don't get me wrong the formulation as always is top notch but the fragrance is a little bizarre...

"This unique soap has an uplifting, fruity fragrance. Bergamot and rosewood work together to create a rich scent, whilst fresh figs, passion fruit juice and soya yoghurt nourish and soften the skin."

Lush Cupid's Love Soap in terms of fragrance most likely slots into the fruity yet floral category but something doesn't quite gel - the notes of passionfruit, fig and bergamot compete for attention and don't mesh. The scent misses the mark, it isn't balanced and not fruity nor floral enough to reel me in. Hey you can't win them all and everyone is a critic. Scent aside I can not fault the soap, it lathers beautifully, cleanses the skin (I used it in place of a shower gel and then as a hand soap) without drying out the skin and is safe even for those who suffer from sensitivities.  The one thing I will state and stress is that you really should pop in store and give this the sniff test before purchasing. I have a sneaky feeling this will be the Marmite product; you'll either love or loathe it in terms of scent anyway.

Lush Cupid's Love Soap £4.25/100g via Lush - link.

  1. It's a shame about the scent! I think i'll definitely try this out in the shop before buying it, i'm quite picky when it comes to the smell of soap.

  2. I find myself quite overwhelmed by the smell of Lush products most of the time. It's a shame about the scent as the soap looks quite pretty.

  3. i find it so hard to actually sniff some of lush's products in store! when they're all gelled together they all smell the same after you've sniffed the first one! I'd love to get my hands on something from this collection though, I love how they make different holidays a little more super special!

  9. I've never tried Lush before. The closest store is two hours away from me so I've never shopped there. I've heard good things about their cosmetics though!

  11. By the sounds of it I feel like I would really like it tbh, I don't know! I'm a bit weird when it comes to scents! Haha, but I don't tend to buy soap from Lush anyways so it would have to be amazing!

  12. I kind of wanted to try this soap just because of the shape (shallow I know) but it sounds like the scent is going to confuse me and the last thing I want during my morning shower is to be confused. I'll probably steer clear but it looks so pretty!
