I'm going to begin by saying that I really do not know what is going on with my skin. Without make-up it looks normal, soft to the touch and is a little oily. As soon as I put make-up on my skin looks dry, cakey and generally the opposite of what I am used to. Due to my skin type normally being oily I don't have a whole lot of skin care aimed at dry skin so I think I am going to have to book in for a Clarins facial (seriously they are the best) and ask what my next step is, better that than guessing and messing up my skin further. Anyway here is what I have been somewhat enjoying with my messed up skin...
Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch Primer £22.85
This is my go to Winter primer, it leaves my skin looking flawless - it gently fills in fine lines, enlarged pores as well as providing oil control and generally keeping my make-up in place. If you want to create an almost airbrushed effect without applying tons of make-up this is the primer you need. Do not be put off by the small jar, you only need the tiniest amount so a jar will last you forever.
YSL Fusion Ink Foundation £30.50
I will admit that this is far from my favourite foundation and not one I would recommend for dry skin and yet at the moment it seems to be working for me. It feels super light on the skin, gives great coverage and looks really fresh, even after several hours of wear. It doesn't cake but I should point out that my skin simply looks dry there is no actual dry patches. Confusing? You don't know the half of it.
The Body Shop Colour Crush Lipstick in 350 Golden Syrup £10
My current go to nude lipstick, this pale pink tinged nude is the perfect nude for most blondes.
It reminds me a lot of MAC Hue only more affordable, much more comfortable and hydrating on the lips and oddly long wearing. I am really blown away by the formula and have plans to go to The Body Shop this week and pick up a few more shades. Keep your eyes peeled for a full review in the coming week. I have been combining this with a quick slick of Elizabeth Arden's 8 Hour Cream Lip Balm to keep my lips soft and free from dry skin! I think it is safe to say that this is one of my favourite lip balms ever.
Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Facial Wash from £8
I never for one moment thought that I'd include a foaming facial wash in a favourites post and yet here we are! No I don't think this is to blame for my skin dilemmas as I have been using it on and off for a good while with no problems at all. I like how gentle yet quick to use this facial wash is - great if you just want to go to bed after a late night. Origins Checks and Balances Frothy Facial Wash is not at all stripping, drying and generally a joy to use.
Bath and Body Works Honeycrisp Apple and Buttered Rum Orchard Triple Moisture Body Cream
I feel bad for including this as not all my readers will have access to it or Bath and Body Works in general. If you do or know someone that is going to America any time soon, beg them to bring you back at least one Bath and Body Works Triple Moisture Body Cream. Not only do they smell amazing but they are easily the best body creams ever. Nothing and I mean nothing leaves my skin feeling as hydrated as this does, it is quick and easy to use and quickly absorbs. Trust me you need it!
Tom Ford Violet Blonde Eau de Parfum from £50
My current go to fragrance, I like that this is a fairly strong scent and yet it is suitable for both day and night wear. I like to think of Tom Ford Violet Blonde as a sexy yet sweet floral. If you like violet scents there is no doubt in my mind that this is one you will enjoy and on the plus side the wear time is out of this world.
What have you been enjoying this week?
Oh and as a side note my second blog Swedish Blues is back up and running, I have new posts scheduled daily for the next week with plans to keep up the momentum!
The bath and body works moisturiser sounds amazing. I'm so sad we don't have a Bath and Body Works in the UK :( xx

I used to work at B&BW and I stocked up on SO many lotions that I think it will take 5 years for me to use them all up. This is a great scent :)

I remember when the Clarins primer was really popular but it has always been so disappointing to me unfortunately :( Would love to try the YSL foundation though. Your skin may be dehyrated as I find that when the weather changes I have the same problem as you but using the Origins Drink Up Intensive mask along with other hydrating products has really helped x
ReplyDeleteNice picks. Like the colour of Body Shop lipstick, looks very attractive

A beauty shop assistant recently told me this YSL foundation has bleaching agents in it. Does anyone know if there is any truth in that?
ReplyDeleteGood picks. I have been suffering a lot lately with me skin, I think it must be a change in the weather x

I have dry skin and actually I love YSL's Fusion Ink foundation, it's all I currently use. If I've got really dry patches it can highlight them a little, but as long as my skin isn't too obviously dry it's amazing. Although that might not be the case for all dry skinned girlies though x
