The party season will be here in a matter of weeks and if like myself you enjoy a good jewel toned eye product the new Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Sparkle Sparkle Shadow and Liner collection could be the very thing you are looking for. A new and innovative eye product that is both an eyeshadow and gel liner. Genius and so well priced too!
The new Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Sparkle Sparkle Shadow and Liner are not worlds apart from the best selling Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Liners - small glass pots which feature a screw top lid. They are small enough to travel with and the glass is not in the slightest fragile meaning it will survive a knock or drop which is always reassuring. As this is intended to be used both as an eyeshadow and liner it is important that the opening of the gel is large enough to fit all sizes of brushes as well as a fingertip. I can vouch that both my largest, fluffiest blending brush and stubby fingers can fit with ease. My only compliant is that the glass of the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Sparkle Sparkle Shadow and Liner jars feature a black, smoky effect which some what alters the view of the shade inside which will only really be problematic if you purchase more than one shade.
All in there is five shades of the new Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Sparkle Sparkle Shadow and Liner , four of which I was kindly sent to try out. I have the following shades: 1, Night Sky - a deep grey almost blackened toned navy blue; 2, Thunderstorm - a deep silver toned grey; 5, Smokey Topaz - a cool yet golden toned copper brown and lastly 6, Midnight Forest - a blackened deep green. There is also Sunlight Bronze (4) which looks to be a pink toned gold. I may treat myself to this shade in America as I do love nothing more than a rose gold eyeshadow! Given the name of the product I doubt anyone will be surprised to read that all five shades are metallic and feature tiny flecks of finely milled glitter which doesn't irritate the eyes nor does it go anywhere. The end result is very pretty and dare I say festive?
The texture of the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Sparkle's Sparkle Shadow and Liner is softer and creamier than your typical gel eye liner and not at all tacky (I find some gel liners to have an almost sticky quality when applied to the full eye lid). The super soft, gel yet cream texture means it glides on to the eye with ease and sheers out like a dream. You can of course apply in layers if wearing as an eyeshadow for a more intense finish, wear sheer or even use as a base for powder products should you wish. As a liner you won't need to layer the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Sparkle on as it produces a well pigmented finish each and every time. I know not everyone is keen on cream eyeshadows as they fear they will crease - well I can vouch that the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Sparkle pots are basically waterproof. Once allowed to set they do not budge and that includes flaking, smudging and smearing. Oh and most notably without a primer - yes really. They really are the perfect hybrid of eyeshadow and liner, if they don't crease on my oily lids I'm confident they won't on anyone else!
Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Sparkle Sparkle Shadow and Liner's costs £20 each and are currently exclusive to the House of Fraser - link.
