Revlon Colorstay Shadowlinks

As I mentioned in my first review of the Revlon Colorstay Shadowlinks - link , I wasn't all completely sold on the concept. However the allure of individual eyeshadows that can be linked together to create custom palettes of your size and choosing was just too much for me to resist.
From the get go you may as well know that the pigment of the Revlon Colorstay Shadowlinks is pretty hit and miss which I guess at £2.99 a shadow is somewhat expected.

Like I said above the packaging is the main selling point of the Revlon Colorstay Shadowlinks. Each pan of colour comes within a small black and transparent plastic casing which although small in size seems to be fairly robust and you can easily see the shade inside each compact which is always handy. The idea behind the Revlon Colorstay Shadowlinks is that each shade can be purchased individually and of course used in such way or linked on to other Revlon Colorstay Shadowlinks to create a custom palette. I think it is a great idea as you have full control over the colours within your palette and it means you can travel with as many or as little shades as you like without having to depot or take several palettes. If you are looking for something cheap and cheerful to take away on a Summer holiday this year, this could well be just what you are looking for.

Sometimes the excitement of being in the likes of Superdrug gets a little too much for me and I tend to sling in items that I wouldn't necessarily purchase under any other circumstances. Yes the pink shade - Revlon Candy. A pink eyeshadow? Why? I have no real idea but it does work with my blue eyes and if I blend in a little matte orange/brown eyeshadow it can make for a pretty combination, admittedly not something I reach for daily. The shade I didn't impulse buy is Gunmetal, I saw a few swatches online and thought this could be a great, subtle smoky grey come blue shadow. This shade gives a dramatic yet subtle wash of colour that can be played up with lots of black eye liner for a night look and oddly it is one of the few deeper shades that really makes my blue/grey eyes pop. Not bad for £2.99 huh.

Much like all eyeshadows not all Revlon Colorstay Shadowlinks are equal nor are they the same formulation. My two new additions are all satin and pearl in formula but are more metallic in finish if you ask me. They have a high sheen finish, again aren't the best pigmented eyeshadows I own nor are they the worst. They do glide easily enough on to the skin and blend well and if teamed with a primer you not only gain prolonged wear but also a little more colour intensity. I haven't personally tried either shade wet but it could work if you require a more pigmented finish. For £2.99 a shadow I can't say I have any real complaints - sure they could be a little more pigmented but for a soft wash over your eyelids they are perfect.
