I am a planner. I like lists, diaries and anything that involves plotting my next move.
With that in mind I have pretty much composed the beauty wishlist to end all beauty wishlists for when I visit the US of A later this year. I really should put my bank card in the freezer and call it a day...
1 - If you ever get near a Sephora check out their own make-up line as it is not only great value for money but wonderful quality too. Last year I bought a few of the mineralised blushes and as nice as they are this time around I would like a few matte Sephora blushes to add to my collection. Oh and you simply have to try out Sephora brushes, I am a complete and utter convert.
2 and 3 - Sephora matte liquid lipsticks are fabulous and forever in my bag, I plan on stocking up on a few firm favourite shades of the Sephora Cream Lip Stains as well as the new Sephora Luster Matte Long Wear Lip Colors.
4,5 and 6 - Last year I dabbled with the Kat Von D make-up line but wasn't completely sold. It is nice enough but just not as great as hype had made it out to be. This time around I'd like to try Kat Von D's Lock It Foundation as well dipping into the lip product line up. The Kat Von D Studded Lip Stick range has caught my eye purely for the design and being a matte lipstick lover I do have to trial the Kat Von D Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick too.
8 and 9 - Tarte powder products are nothing short of phenomenal and I do plan on purchasing a few blushes that we can't get in the UK as well as a palette or two. I'm not entirely sure which one as I am a little hopeful that the Christmas/Holiday gift sets will be on the Sephora counters when I touch down in Florida. The only other Tarte product that has truly caught my eye is Timeless Smoothing Primer, anything that can blur my enlarged pores has got to be a good thing, right?
10 and 11 - Yep I adore the Olsen twins. Adore! I have not tested out the Elizabeth and James Nirvana Fragrances but I will do on the first given opportunity. As I predicted a good year ago the black bottle is seemingly similar to Tom Ford Black Orchid, if that does turn out to be the case I will be skipping. In all honesty the white version does appeal to more. We shall see...
12 - In the UK it is slightly more difficult to purchase roller ball fragrances yet I find they come in rather handy for everyday wear. Your favourite scent in a dinky little bottle that won't weigh down your handbag, what is not to love? I am undecided what scents I will bring home but most likely a Marc Jacobs Daisy purchase will occur.

C.O Biglowe Body cleanser, £3.02 / LORAC Pro Palette, £25 / LORAC Pro Palette 2, £25 / LORAC Pro Matte Lipstick, £9.65 / LORAC lips makeup, £9.65 / Maybelline Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Medicated Lip Balm, £1.80 / Bath and Body Works Anti-Bac Hand Gels / Bath and Body Works Candles
13 - A Maybelline Baby Lips fan I am not and yet I have this urge to try out the medicated range - Maybelline Baby Lips Dr.Rescue.
14 and 15 - Both Lorac Pro Eyeshadow palettes will be coming home with me, it really is as simple as that. I am a sucker for neutrals and really enjoy the fact that both palettes offer matte and shimmer shades. Come to mama.
16 and 17 - Along with all the Lorac eyeshadow loving I have been reading lately, I have noticed that many of my favourite American based beauty bloggers rate Lorac lip products. The matte lipsticks will be mine. Topping my list is the Lorac Pro Matte Lip Color formulation as well as maybe a Lorac Alter Ego Lipstick or two.
18 and 19 - What is a trip to the US without a visit to Bath and Body Works? I plan on purchasing a good few Pumpkin and typical Autumn scented candles as well as stocking up on their anti-bacterial hand gels.
20 - I have a special place in my heart for anything that taps into the old school apothecary vibe, I personally blame that Friends episode? Anyway I have tried out a few C.O Bigelow products along the way and fully recommend the Lemon and Mentha product lines. They smell ah-maz-ing and more than deliver what they promise.

EOS Lip Balm, £30 / Marc Jacobs Nail polish, £11 / Make Up Forever HD Blush / Marc Jacobs eyeshadow palette, £36 / Marc Jacobs Gel Lipstick, £18 / Make Up Forever HD Foundation / Make Up Forver Full Cover Concealer, £17 / Make Up Forever Aqua Brow
21, 22, 23 and 24 - Excuse the duplicate photo of the Bath and Body Works Hand Gels, my bad! Anyway I realise that somewhere in London you can purchase Marc Jacobs make-up, where I'm not too sure? As I live in Glasgow, London is quite a jaunt just for the sake of make-up so I will do my purchases in the States. On my hit list is the 7 pan Marc Jacobs eyeshdow palette in The Dreamer, a nail polish in the shade Daisy (of course), a lip gel and a neutral twinkle pop eyestick. Yep that will be pretty costly.
25 - My second lip balm mention and again a brand I am not entirely sold on once more. Can you sense a pattern? I really want to try out the EOS lip balm in Vanilla Mint but most likely will be left disappointed and with sore lips. Some people never learn.
26, 27. 28 and 29 - I am slightly obsessed with Make Up Forever and don't understand why it is not readily available within the UK? I'm hoping that one day we will be able to go into the likes of Debenhams and purchase with ease or even better Sephora will come to the UK. Yes please! Anyway when in Sephora I will be repurchasing a bottle of Make Up Forever HD Foundation and Full Cover Concealer as well as trying out the Aqua Brow and HD Blush line. Best get a bank loan now huh?
What would you add to this list? Or anything you would recommend I avoid completely?

You need to add in bite lipsticks and the becca shimmering skin protector in moonstone. They are a must have. Bite lipsticks are the most pigmented, long wearing and comfortable lipsticks I have ever worn
ReplyDeleteTarte mascara, its amazing!! also the formula X nail polishes and Bite lip pencils! http://dontforgeteloise.blogspot.co.uk
ReplyDeleteHa thats some wish list Adrienne! I have to agree with Eloise-the Sephora Formula X polishes are the shizz and Bite products are definitely worth checking out. As are Buxom lip products. If you like a good liner then the Kat Von D Tattoo liquid liner is one of the very best I have tried.
ReplyDeleteI have a Sephora order en route that contains the studded lipsticks and the sephora lustre matte lipglosses-will let you know what they're like. The creme stain ones from Sephora are fantastic as well. So long lasting. I also got a couple of the Marc Jacobs Twinkle Pops so will have a go with them and let you know if they're worth the bucks. The eyeshadow pencils from MUFE DEFINITELY are tho-they blow By Terry/Laura Mercier etc out of the water. I think they're called Aqua Eyes.
We have a BABW in Dubai and their candles are amazing, they're so cheap and they fill the room.
The Lorac pro palettes are next on my hit list!!

Wow, that's quite an extensve list! :D Understandable, though- and I definitely wouldn't say no to a few Tarte or Lorac products myself..
ReplyDeleteI'd be interested to know how the Go! Palette from Makeup Revolution fairs as a dupe for the Tarte palette. Otherwise a great list of products :) x
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a long list! I can't wait to try out Elizabeth & James Nirvana too! x

Wow I want all of the things on this list! Especially the Lorac Pro palettes as they don't sell it here in Dubai! :)

OMG! I nearly bought a palette the other day that is very similar to the tarte one (the round one with the shadows and blushes), but from I ♡ Makeup, it was the 'Go! Palettes Go!' one. Total package dupe, perhaps not the contents, who knows?
ReplyDeleteYou might wanna rethink the Kat Von D foundation, I just returned it, at first I loved it but the more I used it the more I realized how difficult it is to keep it looking good throughout the day. It needs good blending and you will need to blend it again after a few hours. As soon as you arrive to the states go to a Sephora and ask for a sample, try it for a few days and then if you love it, buy it! But ask for a sample of the tarte Amazonian clay full coverage foundation, I love it!!!
ReplyDeleteSeriously Adrienne, we have the exact same taste in makeup I can confirm that both Lorac palettes are amazing, the Elizabeth and James Black fragrance is gorgeous and the Marc Jacobs palette is divine! I actually love the Kat Von D foundation, it's really good coverage.
ReplyDeleteLove this post :)

I love the sephora own brand, their lip products are especially amazing. I've never been to Sephora in the US and I'm desperate to! When I lived in Paris there was one on my door step but the european ones are so badly stocked in comparison to the Us

The bath and body works "sweater weather" candle smells so good. It's fresh, yet fall-y and somewhat manly. It's smells great!

I am slowly becoming a LORAC fan..their products look super tasty.

If I ever went over seas I'd definitely be picking up the Lorac Pro palette and some Tarte and Marc Jacobs products!

Great picks!
ReplyDeleteTarte products are great...I've used the Rainforest After Dark palette every day since I purchsed it. I would also take a look at the Marc Jacobs Kiss Pop lipsticks - they come in some great colours. Sephora Pro brushes are my favourite brushes to use, definitely pick up a few of those. Make Up Forever products are longtime favourites for me, in addition to the foundation and concealer check out the HD Microfinish Powder.
I know a lot of people have reccomended Bite lip products and I agree, they are amazing. I think it's mandatory to try to try to get your hands on the Lorac Pro palettes if you go to the US....I have to take a trip myelf for those.

I need that Lorac pro palette in my life - I wish I was going to America again. I'm hoping Italy will have it when I go next week but i'm not going to get my hopes upp

ReplyDeleteI know most people have mentioned products you should get but you may also want to know where are the best places to get them. If you're going to be in Florida for a while and have an extra day, it might be worth it to check out Sawgrass Mills Mall (The mall is massive... you will need a whole day lol). I went there a few weeks ago and visited the Bare Minerals outlet and the prices are amazing. I was able to pick up some of the Buxom lipsticks, pencils and glosses as well as some reduced Bare Minerals eyeshadow palettes (4 pan and 8 pans). I know the Bare Escentuals' brands sell in the UK but the price difference in the US coupled with the outlet prices is undeniably superb! There's also a CCO (Cosmetic Company Outlet) inside of the Saks Off Fifth Avenue store that has 30% off all Estee Lauder brands. When I went, there were mostly MAC, Estee Lauder, Bobbi Brown, Clinique and Smashbox products in addition to a few others. They had quite a few fragrance brands as well. It may also be worth it to check out the beauty sections in stores like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Burlington Coat Factory etc. They sometimes have high end branded stuff at crazy prices! And finally, always check the Sephora sale section in-store. They often have forgotten items (past season and leftover limited edition), loads of deals on nail polish and many times I've seen things on sale which are still full price online. Hope that helps. :)
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with the Lorac Palettes and their lip products! I would personally avoid the baby lips because people seem to be all round disappointed with the range.

The Kat Von D lipsticks look uh-mazing!! The Marc Jacobs eyeshadow palettes are definitely on my wishlist too although I can't decide which shade range I like best, lol.

So! Much! AWESOMENESS! :-) I love your Tarte en LORAC picks.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a list! Have you tried the Kat Von D tattoo eyeliner? It's my HG :) I really love the Baby Lips Dr Rescue (I like the clear one best just for treating my lips rather than for colour) and I have and love the MJ nail polish and the MUFE concealer. If you get the MJ palette, open it up and make sure it clips closed properly - my claspy bit doesn't click and this makes me super sad - love the shadows though. That stripey EOS comes in Coconut Milk flavour too - that's on my list. Oh and B&BW candles, always always always on my list for the US =D
ReplyDeleteHave an awesome trip! If you're there at the end of Sept I think you'll definitiely be able to get some Christmas sets at Sephora - that's when I was in Vegas last year and they were just arriving - I had them raiding the stock room for me before it was even on the shelves!

here is 10 of my fave beauty products under $10 to add to your wish list
ReplyDeletehttp://www.inallofhersplendor.com/2014/08/20/10-favorite-beauty-items-under-10/
I did a huge USA stuff haul through a friend who shipped everything over to me last week - it was like Christmas.
ReplyDeleteKVD Liquid Lipsticks are stunning - the formula is up there and I'd say better than the Bourjois ones. I've yet to try the 2 Studded ones I got but I'm waiting for an occasion since they are reds. I also have the Tarte palette! Unused though haha. LORAC Pro 2 is getting all my love right now. I adore it so much.
You should research some Bite Beauty products, I think you'd like them more than the LORAC Matte lipstick you chose.
I'm off to the States in 3 weeks and compiling my beauty wish lists. A couple of things I love that you might want to look at are the Sephora Matte Bronzer in Los Cabos. Hailed as a dupe for Benefit Hoola I picked this on my last US visit and have used it more than Hoola. I'm also a fan of MUFE and can't wait to stock up on the HD Foundation but check out the invisible HD concealer pen - it's amazing under the eyes. On my list from KVD is the eyeliner. I picked one up for my SIL and she says it's amazing.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to check out the drugstores, I really rate Milani Blushes and Lipsticks as well as Wet n Wild Eyeshadows and Lipsticks, I've found lately I've steered more towards the american drugstore products than my high end items recently.
Have fun and can't wait to see some hauling on your return.

I picked up the Elizabeth and James perfume in rollerball form when I was in the States last and I really wish I had picked up a bigger size! It is seriously heavenly!!
