Weekly Favourites #44

I have had such a bizarre week, two trips to A&E and a mini visit to London.
To say my head is spinning is an understatement but along the way I have discovered and rediscovered a few favourites which I do feel will stay in my daily routine for quite some while now...

Weekly Favourites #44

Annoyingly I had a severe allergic reaction to a face mask, my eyes began to swell shut and my face grew new angles for a few hours. It was all very bizarre as you can imagine. Due to medication and a weird lotion my skin has been beyond dry for the last few days which is a new experience for someone with oily skin. I know everyone and their mother harps on about the wonder that is Indeed Labs Hydraluron but my goodness has it saved my skin. I began applying this on Tuesday night when my skin was at its driest and it is now pretty much back to normal (well oily which is my normal). This light gel really does help the skin retain moisture, is quick to go to work, refreshing and generally a joy to use. I will be using this all summer long and will of course write a full review in a month or so. Basically believe the hype. You can find Indeed Labs Hydraluron on special offer via Boots - link.

I have spoke about Lush Million Dollar Moisturiser quite a few times now but if you like an intensely moisturising cream that adds a radiant glow to the skin and protects against UVA/UVB rays look no further. Yes it is one of Lush's more pricey products but my skin just laps it up, my skin feels and looks softer and as it contains Lush Feeling Younger highlighter the glow it delivers is unbeatable. Gah I am such a Lush fan girl! You can find it here - link.

So I packed my case and left for London, got there and realised I forgot my foundation. Great. Just blinking great, especially when you consider due to the allergic reaction my skin was less than wonderful. Luckily London Euston Train Station has a Boots store that opens at 7am which allowed my to purchase a bottle of L'Oreal True Match Foundation and rediscover just how much I love this long lasting base. It really does stay put all day and more importantly looks fresh! The only down side is that I find it a nightmare to remove. You cleanse your face, swipe over toner and there is still lots of foundation residue left. It is one of those foundations you simply need to adopt a double cleanse process should you wear this. Otherwise a great budget find which you can purchase via Superdrug - link.

My other two base type favourites include Maybelline Better Skin Concealer which in my opinion is a great dupe for MAC Pro Longwear Concealer. It covers beautifully, blends out so well and stays put even in the warmest of weather. It can be used on blemishes, discolouration and the under eyes. If you purchase one concealer this month let it be this. You can find it here - link.
A new find of mine is B.Prepared Make Up Primer which is a light, refreshing gel primer that contains silicone to blur imperfection and create a velvet soft canvas to apply make-up on top off. If you like the idea of Benefit Porefessional but find it too heavy or have the same problem as myself (it bobbles on my skin), this is the primer to try out. It helps lock my foundation in place all day and doesn't irritate my skin. I even use it as an eyeshadow primer. Find it here - link.

I love glowing skin, I blame Jennifer Lopez personally. I have been obsessed with that woman since I was like 8 and she launched her first album. Good times. My current go to combination is a dab of MeMeMe Beat the Blues Highlighter in Pearl Pink (you can find it here - link) blended over my cheek bones followed by a little wash of Becca Beach Tint in Grapefruit. This creates a light flush but doesn't look heavy, I also like that it doubles up as a lip stain meaning I can pack a little lighter. You can find the Becca Beach Tints via Space.NK - link.

Weekly Favourites #44

At the beginning of the week I had the pleasure of having breakfast with Stella McCartney and walked away a fan. I went to London for the re-launch of the original Stella EDP and although I do tend to favour Stella McCartney L.I.L.Y Eau de Parfum, the rose based Stella is slowly growing on me. I adore that is it both fresh yet sexy and so long wearing. It is all I have worn this week. A new favourite in the making that is for sure. At the moment the newly relaunched Stella is exclusive to Harrods. You can find it here - link.

Weekly Favourites #44

Lazy is my middle name. It's not really it is Mary but I am lazy and I feel like Deborah Lippmann Candy Shop is the perfect lazy gal nail polish. You see it looks fairly pretty yet muted for a glitter on the nails but I'll let you in on a secret when this chips you can't notice it. Cue evil genius laugh. If like myself painting your nails is more of a chore than pleasure you really need to purchase Candy Shop at some point. You can find it here - link.
