MAC Soft Brown Eyeshadow - The Tell a Friend Shade

Firstly I know MAC Soft Brown is not the easiest shade to get your hands on - I thought with MAC Pro shades going online here in the UK this shade would creep onto the page but sadly that is not the case. I really don't understand why this is a US only shade as I can see MAC Soft Brown doing really well elsewhere - I mean who doesn't want a matte brown shade that makes most eye colours pop?

I'm in the midst of clearing out all my old MAC eyeshadow palettes with plans to replace the old packaging with the newer and sleeker transparent and black style palettes hence why I have a refill pan of MAC Soft Brown rather than a standard pot.

MAC Soft Brown is a matte almost ruddy toned brown shade that has a strong red undertone, it is one of those shades that you won't fully comprehend the fuss surrounding it until you apply it. MAC Soft Brown is officially listed as a soft golden peachy brown which I somewhat agree with and your closest dupe in my opinion would be NYX Solo Eyeshadow in Suede which is almost identical not to mention cheaper. For most the reason MAC Soft Brown is a must have is that it makes for a wonderful transitional/blending out shade for just about any eye look. I'm not one for heavy eye make up so I do tend to use this in my crease for a little definition, due to the slightly orange warm undertone this shade really makes my blue/green eyes pop especially when teamed with black eyeliner. Due to it being a matte shade it does also look really natural blended all over the lid - basically this is a great everyday shade that just about everyone could get some use out of in one way or the other.

I am a huge fan of MAC Matte eyeshadow formulations as they texture is soft but not impossible to work with i.e product fall out all the while being beautifully pigmented. MAC matte eyeshadows are not ashen nor are they chalky they simply offer great colour pay off as well as being long wearing and easy to blend out. Sure they aren't the cheapest out there but in this instance it really is a case of you get what you pay for. In terms of wear I find on average I achieve at least 9 hours of wear from MAC Soft Brown when teamed with a primer.

If you or a friend happen to be in the US pick up this shade I promise you won't regret it!

  1. Such a gorgeous colour - pity you can't get it over here! :( Just looking at the price difference there, it's crazy how much cheaper it is, they're about €12.50 here!
