Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation

I obviously haven't had the time to try out every Tarte Cosmetics item that I was sent but I did all but rip open the Tarte Amazon Clay Full Coverage Foundation's with my teeth on arrival. Anything that promises full coverage has my attention...

Did you know that the Amazonian clay used within Tarte Cosmetics can be found in 8 shades in nature? No, me neither but every day is a school day. The first thing that impressed me about Tarte's Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation is that it comes with a great brush. A big fluffy yet dense number that is perfect for buffing in a thicker textured foundation such as this one. The packaging is nothing to write home about and although it comes within a squeeze type bottle I can really see any problems arising...well unless you stand/sit/jump on it ha!

Within the UK there is six shades of the Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation to choose from most of which are strongly yellow toned. I have the shades Fair Sand and Light Sand - Fair Sand is the lightest shade within the UK line up, in my mind it is very close to MAC's NC20 shade perhaps a smidgen lighter with a strong yellow undertone. Light Sand isn't all that light and could be compared to MAC's NC30 as it is only a little too pale for my complexion. If you do like the sound of Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation I do suggest doing a little research when it comes to swatches.

As you can imagine being a full coverage foundation Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation has a slightly thicker than usual texture. I liken it a little to Laura Mercier's Silk Creme Foundation in that aspect and much like Laura Mercier's offering a little of this foundation goes a long way. If you apply to much be warned that Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation will cake and look heavy, I fully recommend using a pea sized blob dotted over the face before buffering into the skin using the provided brush. This is a fairly creamy and as a result moisturising foundation that oddly doesn't contribute to the excess sebum on my t-zone but rather it keeps it under control. It easily covers all blemishes, discolouration and leaves the skin completely matte if a little flat so be sure to have a good blush and highlighter to hand. It doesn't settle into my open pores and I can't imagine that it will gather into fine lines either or cling to dry skin either. Tarte claim that this will wear evenly for up to 12 hours and in my instance that is an exaggeration, with a primer and powder duo I achieved a good 8 hours but signs of oil did creep in around the 9 hour mark. All in all a good matte, full coverage foundation that is comfortable to wear but I will be honest I do think it is a little on the pricey side.
