Having fell head over heels for Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Foundation (read my review here -link) I was rather keen to see if the love affair would continue with the concealer of the same name. At £5.99 Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Concealer will not break the bank but it will conceal both blemishes and undereye circles without caking or feeling heavy on the skin. I liken it to a firm favourite of mine MAC Pro Longwear Concealer only marginally cheaper (it is a 1/3 of the price of the MAC version). If you are looking for a do all concealer with a good wear time that is light on the pocket this is the one I recommend.
Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Concealer is a light, liquid concealer that comes in a squeeze style tube which features a slanted nozzle tip which believe it or not is rather helpful when it comes to application. You can either dab the product straight on to the skin with the added aid of the slanted nozzle for precision of use or of course use a brush or your fingers to apply on the skin. As the tube is somewhat sturdy the amount of product that is dispersed is fairly controlled so you don't have to worry about mess or waste.
To the best of my knowledge (and the Boots website) there is only two shades available within the Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Concealer line which is rather restrictive. I have the deepest shade 02 Light Clair which is not at all deep, at the moment it suits my NC30/35ish skin tone but come the summer this will be too light. I do have to warn that the shade do run slightly orange which is helpful for counteracting dark circles but could be problematic when used elsewhere on the face.
As mentioned this is a light somewhat silky formula that applies as a liquid but quickly settles to a velvety soft powder finish which is matte but looks natural - never heavy or cakey. The coverage level of Maybelline SuperStay Better Skin Concealer is medium but easily buildable to full coverage if needed. It disguises both blemishes and under eye complaints with ease - on the under eye it doesn't settle into fine lines nor does it cling to dry skin elsewhere. Once set with powder it truly does last all day and like I have said before it is almost identical to MAC Pro Longwear Concealer. If Maybelline add more shades to the range this would quickly become a staple product for many.
