Battle of the Beauty Boxes December 2013

Rather than doing individual posts of beauty boxes and drag the process out I thought I'd pit each box against one and other and see which turns out to be the best for each month. At the moment I have Glossybox, Birchbox and Love Me Beauty Box but if you'd like me to include any others do let me know (please keep in mind I do live in the UK).

Battle of the Beauty Boxes December 2013

First up we have Love Me Beauty Box which is the most customisable service out of the three, you can choose three menus so you get the products you want rather than a surprise each month but they do also offer a more traditional surprise box too if that is more your bag. Typically speaking I do tend to favour Love Me Beauty but this months boxes seemed a little samey and almost identical to one of their boxes I had not so long ago. This months I received a sample size of Matriskin Vitamin C Serum which I have been enjoying so far it seems to be brightening up my skin a treat but probably not enough to tempt me to purchase the full size version. There is also a full sized Lord and Berry Lipstick in Glazed Pink and a Lord and Berry Lipliner in Romantica - I would have liked the shades to be co-ordinated rather than a nude and a bright pink. There is also a full sized Headline Colors polish in Quicksand which is a nice enough deep nude and a sample size of Rodial Glamtox night which I have yet to try. For the last box of the year it was a little meh but truthfully not the worst box of the trio. Find the Love Me Beauty Box here - link.

Next up we have Birchbox which is a surprise box service and again a monthly offering. Truthfully I wasn't all that impressed with its contents either particularly considering it is the festive box but less of my belly aching and more of what is inside. Okay here is what is inside: Lamilou Body Milk which is Cocoa Butter and Rose Water scented sadly I'm allergic to cocoa butter so I couldn't try this one out but it does smell lovely. You also get a twist band hair tie which always comes in handy having long hair, a full sized nail rock nail glitter kit for sparkly nails, a non-aerosol hair spray, a rather pretty mineral eyeshadow from Alima Pure and lastly Sin Care Booster Serum in Party Girl. Admittedly not my thing but I can see what Birchbox have went for and have succeed in including party ready products to see you through the festive season and beyond. Out of all three boxes I would say that Birchbox on the whole tend to offer the best products and very rarely have a dud box. Find Birchbox here - link.

Lastly we have Glossybox which in my opinion tends to be the most hit and miss service out of the three yet this month they are the service that comes up trumps! Not only do you get rather impressive goodies, a beautiful box but also a magazine which is normally my favourite thing in the box...sad I know. As with the majority of beauty boxes there is a few products in this offering that I would typically cast aside - the Beautiful Moments Lipgloss (I don't wear gloss all that often) and the Yin Yin Rich Skin Food (I don't tend to use vials or dinky samples as there is not enough product to gauge a real opinion) but those two products aside this box is stellar. On to what I do like - hello full sized Seche Nail Lacquer in Blanc II a creamy, glossy white polish that is perfect for creating some festive nail art or even a chic white manicure. There is also a full sized tube of one of my favourite mascara's Maybelline Volum' Express Colossal Smokey Eyes Mascara. Oh but that is not all you also get a Wilkinson Sword Intuition Naturals Razor which is a 3 in 1 contraption that allows you to shave your legs without the need for soap or shaving gel. Pretty nifty. In my opinion (humble as it may be) Glossybox win this months battle! Find Glossybox here - link.

Is there any other beauty boxes I should investigate?
