Admit it every once and a while you turn to the pages of Vogue for inspiration?
We all do, when I was in college it was my bible and I shed a little tear each time I had to cut one up for an art project. Well times may have changed but I sure haven't and I still flick through those alluring glossy pages every once and a while to see what makes the hot list. One cleanser has appeared a good few times in Vogue each with a gushing statement, I mean if Vogue loves something it has to be good right?
Okay maybe not always but when it comes to Eve Lom Cleanser they couldn't be more on the money and that is why they have named it the number one cleanser in the world. Impressive non?

The Eve Lom Cleanser has been the number one best selling product for Space.NK for the last 15 years and was the first cleansing balm of this type to hit the beauty world thus changing how we look at skin care forever. As someone who adores cleansing balms I am rather annoyed at myself for only discovering this particular cleanser in the recent months.

Anyway Eve Lom Cleansing Balm is a blend of Egyptian chamomile, hops, clove, and eucalyptus oil together with cocoa butter which is said to remove the most stubborn make-up including eye products such as waterproof mascara. A quick glance at the ingredients and I can tell it will have some up in arms as it does contain mineral oil and five paraben preservatives within the mix. I personally don't have a problem with either as I see cleanser as something to take my make-up off not as a typical skin care product i.e something that will put moisture back into the skin etc. It does however contain natural oils such as Chamomile to soothe and calm redness within the skin, clove and eucalyptus oil to de-congest and act as a natural antiseptic and antibacterial agent which in theory should help blemish prone skin. There is also Cocoa Butter which is renowned for its skin softening purposes (this is one of the few times cocoa butter has agreed with my skin). At £40 this cleanser is not cheap so if you are off put by the ingredients to begin with I say skip, there are plenty of other products of this type free from parabens and mineral oil - I personally recommend Aurelia Miracle Cleanser.

The Eve Lom cleanser is a thick, slightly gritty balm that goes on to dry skin and once worked into the skin turns into a cleansing oil. As the texture is a little on the dense side of things you do have to really work it into the skin and as a result it does remove al traces of make-up. To remove such products a wet flannel or muslin cloth is your best bet. I can't personally vouch for the eye make-up removal aspect as the scent of the cleanser is a little too intense (thick eucalyptus mixed with a typical herbal fragrance) for my sensitive eyes and caused them to stream. Unlike other balm cleansers the Eve Lom version claims to not only cleanse but also tone and exfoliate. The toning aspect I'm not so sure of but it certainly cleanses and exfoliates gently in one quick step. If like myself you prefer a simple approach to skin care and often skin exfoliating this is perfect as it gently buffs away dead, dry and dull skin in one quick step without stripping the skin of moisture. My skin has never been softer or brighter since adding the Eve Lom cleanser to my every day routine and I have to say that I am impressed and understand why it is a repurchase for many of its fans which by the way include Kate Hudson and Kylie Minogue to name a few.

As Vogue put it "probably the best cleanser in the world"...maybe it is!
