I know that technically winter doesn't begin until December the 21st (Winter Solstice) but in my mind Winter starts straight after Halloween. Since I'm not much of a traditionalist it may not surprise you to learn that I don't tend to wear deep berry shades on my nails mainly because it stains, instead I tend to gravitate towards milky pastel hues. I have a particular weakness for mint green polishes and since Essie Mint Candy Apple isn't all that wonderful in terms of application I have forever been on the look out for a great alternative enter Maybelline Mint for Life.
Now I am not saying this is an outright dupe because it is not Essie Mint Candy Apple has a stronger blue undertone but if you like white based mint green polishes that don't require endless coats or a white base Maybelline Mint for Life is the one. Maybelline Mint for Life is one of the shades from the Forever Strong Super Stay Gel Color range (wowee that is a mouthful) that promises seven days of wear. Seven days is a little far fetched in my case (I'm heavy on my nails) but there is no denying that it wears rather well with or without a topcoat, is opaque in two coats (it does look pretty great after one coat too) and dries to a really glossy finish. The brush is also worth mentioning, it may appear to be large but it very easy to use and I find that it fans out on the nail and quickly coats each in one quick swipe.
Basically the shade is a gorgeous light true mint green couple that with an amazing formula and a decent price tag and you are on to a winner. Mint for life indeed!
