Maybelline Boots Beauty Box

A few days ago I reviewed the Essie Festive Finger Tips Beauty Box - review link and a few days later I was lucky enough to receive the Maybelline and L'Oreal versions. If you are looking to treat someone this Christmas (in my opinion all the boxes make great secret Santa gifts for beauty lovers) even if that someone is you it takes all the fuss out of gift buying. Each of the three boxes not only come beautifully presented but full of full sized products for a reduced price.

Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara in Dark Brown - This shade is far too dark for my blonde brows but let me tell you that it is one of the best brush on brow products I have ever used. I also have the shade Dark Blonde which I have had for some time and find it perfect for quickly sweeping through the brows to tint, shape and hold the brows in one quick step. The wand is well shaped so that the gel doesn't go everywhere and also to pinpoint fine areas such as the brow tail. I will review my Dark Blonde version in the coming weeks but yes this is a brilliant everyday product that once you begin using you won't be able to live without.

Maybelline Mega Plush Mascara in Very Black - Let me begin by saying I am a huge fan of Maybelline's Mascara namely Volum' Express but I am really struggling with the Mega Plush brush not the formula. The brush head is too large for my sparse eyelashes which won't be a problem for most but for me the wand just allows me to make a mess - which I truly don't need any helping hand in. Other than that the formula is lightweight (great for fine lashes), not too wet nor dry and does add both length and volume.

Maybelline Baby Lips in Hydrate - I've not been the biggest fan of Maybelline Baby Lips but I have to say that I am rather taken by the Hydrate formulation not only does it have a really pleasant Lemon sent but it is far more moisturising than the others. A great every day "store it in your pocket" type balm.

Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquer in Nebline - A pretty perfect pink nail polish, this reminds me of Butter London's Teddy Girl polish only much cheaper.

Maybelline Dream Touch Blush in Berry - I don't personally like the Dream Touch foundation but the blush versions are great and one of the easiest cream blush formulations to use. Berry tones can be a little daunting if like myself you are a neutral fan but this shade is so muted and pink toned that it allows you to tap into such trend without being overwhelmed. To apply I find the Dream Touch Blushes to work best when applied with the fingertips - simply dot on and blend, you can apply in layers for a more pigmented finish.
