For Autumn/Winter 2013 Topshop have launched a deep, vampy collective which features lots of Gothic matte, velvet finishes and includes: Velvet Lips in Velveteen Ribbon, Raven and Plush, Eye Gleam in Noir, Bronzed and Winter Frost, Skin Perfecting Pressed Powder in White Lies, Cheek and Eye Duo in Bitten Cherry and Nail Polishes in the shades Cryptic, Bad Orchid and Bitter Sweet. I have a few items to share and I can happily say that they do not disappoint.
First up we have Topshop Matte Nails in Cryptic which is a bright true red and a shade that can be worn all year around with ease, well that is if you like matte textured polishes. I personally prefer glossy/crème formulations but will admit that I am impressed with the application of this formula. It glides on with ease, doesn't streak and is fully opaque in two quick drying coats. Not at all bad for £6 and if matte is not your thing a glossy top coat will quickly remedy that. Find it here via Topshop - link.
Next up we have a great multi-purpose eye product in Topshop Eye Gleam in Noir. Best described this is a light mousse textured cream eyeshadow that can of course be used as an all over wash of colour, a base for powder products or as an eye liner. Noir is not a true black but rather a blue based charcoal grey with lots of tiny flecks of silver glitter. Truthfully the texture is a little gritty but very well pigmented yet without a primer it did crease on my eye lids after 4 hours of wear but wore fine as an eye liner...most odd. I think this would make a great base for a glittery smoky eye, perfect for the upcoming festive period. This has yet to launch online.
Last but not least we have my favourite item from the Damned Collection Topshop's Velvet Lips, okay the shade I have - Plush, is not really my taste but they feel great on the lips and I have heard that the shade Raven is black! Plush is a blue based deep berry purple that dries to a completely matte finish with tiny flecks of silver glitter. I would liken the Topshop Velvet Lips to both the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks and of course Hourglass' Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipsticks only the Topshop formula is softer and lighter on the lips in terms of texture. The Lip Velvet's glide on with ease, offer full pigmentation and aren't overly drying the only problem I encountered was that Plush applied a little patchy (it looks worse in the photos than in person) which is not all that rare for deep purple shades of this type in my opinion. I will pick up the other two shades when they launch and report back but at £8 a pop they get the thumbs up.
The Topshop The Damned Collection* has not fully launched online yet but can be found in Topshop's that carry the make-up line and I highly suggest having a nosy!

That is one of the darkest and vampiest shades I've seen this season. It's not a shade for me and I think I'll stick with the lovely vibrant nail polish! Xx

ReplyDeleteLike the colour on me, but I agree it's not really your shade. I feel you're lovely with any colour but coral ones fit you most :)

This nail varnish looks pretty! I'm not sure if I would like the matte finish but at least you have the option of doing it both ways.

Hey there! thanks for this, been excited about this collection for a while! I actually took a trip to my second nearest store which is a bit of a trek for me - but my nearest is very small and doesn't stock much, and specifically wanted to look at this collection, as I have been told that not all of it will appear online. When I spoke to the TS assistant who was very lovely and helpful (sadly unlike the girl at the till, who didn't seem the slightest bit interested which made me feel a tad a)bonkers and b)foolish) she told me that the collection won't launch in their store until the 24th October x
ReplyDeleteps. I find it tricky with lip stains as they tend to be patchy, the only one that I seem to get on with is Benefit's Rosie tintx
ReplyDeleteTopshop now have their makeup in the Fenwicks department which I didn't realise! I love the lip colour and the eye shadow :) think Topshop might be something to keep my eye on :P

Not a fan of the shade of the Velvet Lips but I like the concept, if Topshop have more shades I'd definitely check them out... Infact I'm going to head over to their website now and have a look. :D
