MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Eclair

A few weeks ago my best friend was in York and the lucky sod got to browse their Cosmetic Company Outlet what she didn't say on the phone while taunting me was that she bought me a little present. A wonderful gift no less and something I have had my eye on for a while - MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Eclair. I did think that this shade was making a come back later this month in the Pro Longwear collection but it seems I was wrong, never fear though as MAC Constructivist (permanent) is fairly similar.

By now most will be familiar with the MAC Paint Pot packaging style - a simple glass jar with a screw on lid. I have no complaints whatsoever in terms of the packaging but do urge you to ensure that after each use you screw the lid tightly on to prevent the product from drying out. If it does dry out I have heard you can zap it in the microwave for a few seconds to loosen the texture.

MAC Eclair is a warm, yellow metallic mid toned brown that is similar to Maybelline Bad to the Bronze is as close as you will get on the high street and probably the best dupe. In my opinion Eclair is a great universal shade and makes for a great simple bronze smoky eye. Simply apply all over the lid and buffer out and you are good to go. I do hope that MAC make this shade permanent one day! Glasgow has been overcast as of late so I am afraid the natural light swatches are not all that great - I would deem the flash swatch more true to life.

As with all MAC Paint Pots Eclair can be applied as a cream eyeshadow which settles to a soft powder finish. The drying down time is fairly quick, meaning it can be used as a base, an all over colour, highlight or as an eye liner obviously some options are ruled out due to colour choice but it is a great multi-purpose shade none the less. The reason I like the Paint Pot formula so much is down to the fact they are quick and easy to use, they don't crease even on my oily eye lids but for peace of mind I do tend to apply a little primer before application. They also have a soft texture that is really easy to work with, yes they are very pigmenetd but they can be softened with a fluffy brush and a little blending. Typically speaking I can easily get 10 hours wear per application even in warm, balmy weather. If you are new to cream eyeshadows you could do a lot worse than starting with the Paint Pot formula - it is pretty much fool proof.

You can see all the permanent shades here -link and later this month another good few shades join the permanent line up too!

List of CCO's in the UK

I personally have only briefly been in the CCO in Cheshire Oaks and can't say I was all that impressed but that was a few years ago and it may well have improved. It is rather annoying that there is not one north of the border, even just one in Scotland would be great! There is also grumblings of CCO's being in Bath and Essex but I can't find any solid proof of that online.
