Beauty Staples

I'm sure we all have a small selection of beauty products we take for granted?
Perhaps they aren't necessarily a favourite in the sense that you feel the need to shout about it from the roof tops but they have some how along the way wormed their way into your affections?
I bet that sounds familiar and here is my selection and why I need them so.

Having oily skin I struggle with prolonging my make-up and do own several primers all for different occasions and purposes but to prolong my make-up I owe it all to Urban Decay's B6 Prep Spray. It brightens the skin, infuses it with various minerals and vitamins but most importantly it really does work. A quick spritz of this before applying my make-up and I know that it won't be going anywhere regardless of what the day ahead can throw my way! Speaking of prolonging the wear of make-up I am a firm advocate of Ben Nye's Banana Powder for my under eye area to stop my mascara from smudging (oily skin woes one more) and to also brighten and hide any signs of fatigue. If you have medium to dark skin this is the perfect powder to set a liquid highlight but I don't recommend it for those with a fair complexion.

I am a fuss free kinda gal if products require a lot of effort to make them work count me out and my fuss free face usually consists of Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation. I truly can not fault the formula and will go as far as saying it blows many a higher end brand out of the water in terms of quality or finish. Despite having a light gel like texture it offers medium coverage that looks natural, adds a radiant glow to the skin and wears beautifully. If you have yet to try this out please do soon it really is revolutionary...well as far as foundation goes.

Keeping in with what I have stated above it will come of little surprise that if I am not testing out eye products I don't tend to wear all that much but daily you can count on a quick slick of Laura Mercier's Faux Lash Mascara and 3 Light Clarifier Eye Liner. Laura Mercier Faux Lash is a relatively new discovering and despite having one of the hugest wands and brush heads ever it works wonderfully with my fine, straight and sparse lashes. It lengthens and adds volume without clumping, flaking or smudging. A huge thumbs up from me. To awaken and give the impression of larger eyes I do rely heavily on 3 Light Clarifier Eye Liner in medium - the flesh toned pencil is far more natural and less stark than a white liner yet offers the same results. The formula is soft, easy to apply and most importantly it wears well on the waterline. Recently when it comes to going out at night all I have been using is Chanel's Ebloui Illusion D'Ombre Eyeshadow - the red bronze hue makes blue eyes pop, couple that with an easy to wear and blend formula and you have a winning combination.

I am a huge fan of nude lip colours but loathe formulas that don't wear well - I like to eat and drink safe in the knowledge that my lip colour with remain intact! If you would like such properties then you really must check out MAC's Pro Longwear Lipsticks - a soft buttery texture that really does wear like no other even when tested by eating, drinking and dare I say it kissing! My personal favourite is To the Future! a light nude pink that gives the impression of plumper lips. Every girl should also have a go with everything lip gloss and in my opinion a must have is NARS Turkish Delight this light milky pink layers well over nearly every other lip product and is just as pretty on its own.

Two other current staples of mine are He-Shi One Day Tan a quick and easy to apply wash off daily tanner that won't rub off or streak should it rain and offers a natural wash of colour. If you don't want the hassle of a real self tanner this is the one for you. My bathroom is never without a bottle of Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner - this bubblegum scented deep conditioner works like no other and I credit it for the reason my hair is still relatively healthy despite all the bleach and heat I have subjected it to.
