Glossybox Woman

Glossybox Woman
Glossybox Woman

Last night a surprise package arrived on my doorstep another Glossybox.
Well I thought it was another typical Glossybox until I opened it up only to find a new type of Glossybox inside - Glossybox Woman which is being aimed at woman 40 and over. I know my opinion on this box to the target age group will be moot as I'm in my twenties but my Mum is in her forties so I did ask her to glance over the contents and tell me what she thought.

Unlike the normal Glossybox sub plan the Woman box rolls out every 8 weeks and is said to contain more premium products that won't be as trend focused and as a result will be a little more pricey at £14 every 8 weeks. Inside my sample was a 15ml bottle of Ole Henriksen Truth Serum, two 15ml (full size) Lulu Timebomb products (skin care), 15ml Comfort Zone Mask and a 30ml bottle of Redken Colour Extend Spray. Truthfully I was a little underwhelmed and would only use the Ole Henriksen product and the Redken spray but as this is not targeted at my age group I did ask for my mothers opinion.
The Lulu (from Shout fame) products are laden with parabens and as my mother bluntly put it any woman who has more plastic than face shouldn't be endorsing skin care...ouch! She did however rate the other three products with the Ole Henriksen product coming out trumps.

I think Glossybox as a concept in general is a little too gimmicky for the newest age group they are trying to target - I know for a fact that the women in my life 40 and over wouldn't subscribe as the element of surprise doesn't interest them at all. Perhaps the best way to approach this box is to allow women to pick and choose their samples every 8 weeks? What I did rather enjoy was the magazine (especially the interview with Fiona Dowal) and would love Glossybox to bring back a publication within the usual boxes.

Anyway Glossybox Woman will launch later this coming December via Glossybox* for £14 (plus p&p).
*PR sample sent for consideration of review.
